Sony’sPlayStation 5continues to sell like hot cakes, and its sales have seen its best quarter yet per the company’s latest quarterly financialreport.
Between October and December 2024, Sony sold 9.5 million units. The PS5 Pro’s release in November undoubtedly buoyed this, though Sony didn’t give a breakdown.

Sony’s Gaming Division Continues To Do Well For The Electronics Giant
This brings the overall PS5 sales worldwide at 75 million units, and pushes Sony’s gaming division up 37% compared to the same period last year.
Not only are sales up, but PlayStation’s monthly active users (MAU) are up 5% year-on-year, reaching 129 million active users as of August 06, 2025. Overall game sales are also up by 16% as well.
Due to the significant increases reported by the games division for the quarter, Sony has raised its profit forecast by 2%.
This figure is even more impressive when you see that Astro Bot is Sony’s lone big Q4 release. Although the game won Game of the Year at The Game Awards, it does lack the punch of PlayStation’s mega-franchises like God of War, The Last of Us, etc.
