On August 28, Sega revealedProject Blackwith a teaser site and a music video. A live stream will be coming on September 2 to reveal more on the project. Three characters were revealed as well. We translated everything that was revealed so far.Project Black, officially stylized asB.L.A.C.K.looks to be a music themed venture from Sega, but is also definitely linked to theSakura Warsfranchise in some form. There are multiple hints pointing toward it.B.L.A.C.K.stands for Brilliant Legislative Artistic Celebrity Knights. It’s described as a group of artists who sing and fight to protect Japan. Just like the Combat Revues / Kagekidan ofSakura Wars.Sega also recently trademarkedSakura Taisen B.L.A.C.K.and the staffalready teasedmoreSakura Warsto come.An official Twitter account forProject Blackwas also opened. The account is correctly holding a Follow + RT campaign to win Apple Store and Google Play gift cards:

Here are additional details on theProject Blackcharacters revealed so far by Sega:

The project’steaser siteexplains there are innumerable members ofB.L.A.C.K., including trainee members, all supported by the citizens. However, there are 12 members regarded as the strongest, and titled the Noble 12. The three characters below are part of the Noble 12.

We have Kurumi Saimei, Prana Tosei, and Meisa Akashi. Their seiyuu weren’t revealed yet. However, we can hear their voices in the music video:

The song is titledWonderful Futureand was composed by Kohei Tanaka, the composer of theSakura Taisenseries. Kohei Tanaka is also followingProject Black’s Twitter account.

TheProject Blacklogo is also straight outtaSakura Taisen. TheProject Blacklivestreamwill be on September 2 at 2000 JST (Click here for a time conversion table).

Personally speaking, my guess is thatProject Blackby Sega is a newSakura Taisenrhythm mobile game. As for the character designer, I’d say it’s Raita Honjou, at the very least for Meisa Akashi. I don’t have any guesses for the seiyuu though. We’ll know for sure on September 2. We will be writing a stream summary likeeverySakura Taisenstream so far.

DualShockers recentlyinterviewedtheSakura Warsstaff at Sega, with Director Tetsuya Ootsubotelling usthey’d love to work on a spinoff title. He also said they’d like to bring the game to as many people as possible, when asked about ports to other platforms.
