When one thinks of multiplayer online battle arena, or MOBA, games,League of LegendsandDotainstantly come to mind, as they are some of the most iconic titles the genre has ever seen. However, for those players who aren’t well-versed in MOBA gaming, the barrier of entry can be jarring simply due to how inaccessible it all looks, as the games are mostly played from a traditional top-down perspective instead of a more approachable third-person POV.

League of Legends may be iconic, but Predecessor is played in a third-person perspective.

Fortunately, Omeda’sPredecessor, which is now free-to-play in its open beta phase, puts its own spin on the genre by introducing an element that isn’t usually seen in MOBA games.

Step Aside, League of Legends: There’s a New MOBA in Town With a Third-Person POV

We had the pleasure of having aconversation with Robbie Singh, CEO and Founder of Omeda Studios, which is set to take the MOBA world by storm with its game,Predecessor. Omeda is looking to take a fresh route with the genre, but there is one specific aspect that really makes it stand out from the rest of the mainstream competition, such asLeague of Legends.

The new MOBA game is played from a third-person perspective, so we had to ask Singh about how it helps differentiate his title from others, resulting in it becoming a unique experience.

Primarily giving examples of extremely popular MOBA beasts likeLeague of LegendsandDota, the Omeda Studios CEO called his video game “the only third-person MOBA” when one does a quick survey of “the market.” Which, according to Singh, ends up making it “a much more immersive experience,” and accompanied by “unique mechanics” such as characters flying around,Predecessorcould end up being the next big thing.

The Omeda founder noted that these elements were “not possible in the MOBA space because of how the core kind of gameplay was set up and a lot of these games being kind of top-down or 2D,” which is something Singh and his team are hoping to change with their own title.

Omeda Studios' new MOBA title lets gamers play together even if they are on different platforms.

Predecessor Also Comes With Crossplay Between PlayStation, Xbox, and PC

Aside from makingPredecessora third-person MOBA, Omeda Studios has also thrown in crossplay between multiple platforms, which is also something that the genre-behemothLoLdoes not have since it is only available to play on PC.

Players can check the game out with their friends, regardless of whether they are playing on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, or PC.

Combined with the aforementioned gameplay mechanics, the Omeda title is turning out to be a force to be reckoned with in the MOBA landscape as it tries to carve its own path in a relatively difficult genre.

Ever since Osama was gifted the glorious PS2 more than two decades back, video games have formed a major part of his life, ranging from spending hours playing through every single Dragon Ball game he could find to witnessing the gaming industry evolve into something extraordinary in modern times. Building his collection of PlayStation consoles throughout the years all the way up until PS5, he prefers single-player experiences like The Last of Us and Persona, while also letting off steam on a daily basis with casual EA Sports FC matches. But the current rise in online multiplayer shooters will never really appeal to his old-school self.
