When it comes to superhero movies, there have been more than a handful of misses before the age of CGI led to the establishment of the critically acclaimed Marvel Cinematic Universe and its not-so-critically-acclaimed counterpart, DC Universe. While DC is getting a new lease of life as of now under James Gunn, there was once a time when its mythos inspired the creation of two of the worst comic book movies of all time: Halle Berry’sCatwomanand Ryan Reynolds’Green Lantern.

Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan in a still from Green Lantern

Although Reynolds’ first superhero outing is considered the worst of all time, one scene from Berry’s DC outing is enough to convince that it is more deserving of such a title.

Halle Berry’s Flirty Basketball Scene is Worse ThanGreen Lantern

Ryan Reynolds‘Green Lanternis a critically blasted superhero film that most DC fans and Reynolds himself would like to forget. The only good thing about the film was that it led to one of the most followed celebrity couples of all time: Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, who starred as his on-screen love interest in the film.

Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman Almost Got a Stand Alone Movie Long Before Halle Berry’s $82 Million Worth Box Office Nightmare

Halle Berry‘sCatwomanon the other hand, fared even worse critically and commercially. WhileCatwomangrossed just $82 million against a $100 million budget (viaBox Office Mojo),Green Lanterngrossed $237 million against a $200 million budget (viaBox Office Mojo). Yet, some fans consider Reynolds’ Hal Jordan outing the worst of all time.

But Berry’s flirty basketball scene is proof enough that there can be nothing worse than the film. In the said scene (seeYouTube), Berry as Patience can be seen along with Benjamin Bratt’s Det. Tom Lone, is surrounded by a bunch of kids while they go one-on-one in a basketball game full of weird camera angles, multiple fouls, unrealistic flirty exchanges, and overall botched-up moves.

Halle Berry in and as Catwoman

A scene that is generally considered the worst basketball scene in the history of cinema (seeReddit), it recently resurfaced on the internet, and DC fans couldn’t help but state how this single scene makes evenGreen Lanterna fun watch.

DC Fans Throw Shade at Halle Berry’sCatwomanEven After All These Years

Halle Berry’sCatwomanwas released way back in 2004 but itcontinues to garner hate and backlasheven after all these years. Having just an 8% rating onRotten Tomatoes, the film was widely panned by critics and audiences alike. On the other hand, Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern, while not well-received, has gained somewhat of a cult following over the years.

So when the basketball scene from the film went viral on X recently, some went on to compare the two worst-rated DC films of all time.

Lmao and people really think Green Lantern was worse

Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman Almost Got a Stand Alone Movie Long Before Halle Berry’s $82 Million Worth Box Office Nightmare

This is my #1 most hated movie

Nothing is funnier than fake sports scenes that are written & acted by people that never played sports

blake lively ryan reynolds green lantern

All of those camera cuts, damn 😭

What the fuck is this shit 🤣🤣🤣

Halle Berry as Catwoman

The fact that this movie exists is an insult to cinema and humanity

While it is interesting to see how even after all these years the film continues to cause backlash, there is no denying that the basketball scene was certainly the least enjoyable part of the film. As the film lies forgotten, it is good to see Halle Berry gain the respect and fame she deserves by portraying Storm in Fox’sX-Menfranchise.

Catwomanis available to be streamed on Netflix.
