These films have also managed to create a close bond between Tom Cruise, one of the biggest stars in the industry, and the production company just as long as the franchise has existed.
But unlike its predecessors, the latest film in the franchise didn’t perform well, neither at the box office nor in the eyes of the critics, not to mention, how it deteriorated the relationship between the star and the studio. Thus, with news that the second part of the film is being delayed till 2025, the name ofMission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part Onehas been changed to justMission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning.

If the last couple of years had any indicator of whatTom Cruise‘s future held, it always seemed to lead to the next film in the iconicMission: Impossiblefranchise, practically making it his second home. But with the release of the latest film in the franchise, it seems like that cookie is starting to crumble.
As it’s visible,Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part Onewas nothing like the success the past three films in the franchise managed to achieve before it, which is even though they had significantly less budget than the eye-watering $292 million Paramount Pictures spent on the latest one. Thus, after grossing $567 million during its run, it failed to meet the tremendous expectations of both the star and the studios.
Therefore, with the release of the next part of the film being rescheduled to August 24, 2025, the name of the aforementioned project is being retitled from its original to justMission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning.

This has got the audience scratching their heads, wondering why this change now of all times, and as per reports, it’s being rumored that the next film in the franchise will also receive a new title, different from the original title withPart Twoat the end, and might be the final film of the long-running franchise.
Why Are These Decisions Suddenly Being Implemented?
While the details may still be unknown about this particular decision, theories have come forward, saying that the rumored end of the franchise has been initiated because of the deteriorated relationship between the star and the studio.
It was reported that the star’s resilience in curbing the production scale of the film during the Pandemic, along with frequent changes in the script and directing decisions taken by Cruise on the set led to the budget of the film being inflated to what it is today. Along with the star having his problems with Paramount Pictures, their decades-old partnership has started to crumble, which is also affecting the projects Cruise is involved in with them.
