At one point, they concluded that the murder was done by two people, which was the only possibility considering the murder happened in just 12 minutes. Meanwhile,Selena Gomez‘s Mabel finds the original script for theOnly Murders in the Buildingmovie in a box of beers belonging to Sazz. She realizes that Sazz had written the script, revealing the killer to be the film’s designated screenwriter, Marshall P. Pope.

Charles and Oliver realize that they have put Mabel’s life in danger. To rescue her from Marshall, they had to follow through with the killer’s plan to enter Mabel’s apartment—walk on the ledge of Arconia. While Vince and Rudy distract Marshall, Charles and Oliver climb into the apartment. Charles defeats Marshall initially, but the killer being a stunt person is quick to beat them all.

When he is about to kill the trio, he is suddenly shot from afar. It turns out to be Amy Ryan’s Jan who was the killer in the first season. It is revealed that she had been hiding in the Arconia for the entire season. Why did Jan, who tried to kill Charles in the first season, kill Marshall and save them all?

Interestingly, she had fallen in love with Sazz after her murderous stint with Charles. She broke out of jail when she heard of Sazz’s murder.
