After Zoro and Nami manage to escape, we learn thatBuggy’s real problem is that these lesser-known pirates have the Grand Line map, and he doesn’t, claiming he is the best pirate in the East Blue and he’ll stop at nothing to get the map. It also becomes apparent thatBuggy is another Devil Fruit eater like Luffy, which causes his body to separate into pieces. Like Luffy, he is also a Devil Fruit eaterwho ate the Bara Bara no Mi variant that allows his body to break into pieces and reassemble(which also contributed to his smaller stature in several appearances).
