Eiichiro Oda’s magnum opus is home to countless fan theories; the mangaka has kept his fans wondering about the secret behind the most alluring treasure of all, that is, the One Piece. However, the mangaka has been focusing on Imu-Sama, the mysterious figure, who is believed to be the final villain that would stand in Luffy’s way to becoming the King of the Pirates.

Though the identity of the mysterious ruler seems to stay hidden, it looks like Oda-Sensei has decided to go back to his roots and give the villain a power that has been told in the Japanese folklore.
A fan had taken to social media, where they shared their observation on how Imu might be having the powers of a mythical Salamander, that might prove to be the ultimate villain to fight against Sun God Nika!

Imu-Sama and the Salamander Connection Makes Him Bad News for Monkey D. Luffy
There is no surprise that the villains featured inEiichiro Oda’sOne Pieceare some of the best characters featured in the show. For 27 years, the mangaka has kept his fans hooked on the show, with a wide range of characters, which is not just limited to heroes.
Interestingly, the series boasts some incredible villains that the Straw Hats have fought in the past or are yet to face. While there are some worthy names like the Blackbeard Pirates, none could come close to the mystery and buzz following the ruler of the Empty Throne, Imu-Sama.

Countless fan theories surround the figure, where some believe that thecharacter’s identity has already been revealed; it looks like another theory is about to make it to the long list.
As fans know, very little is known about the ruler. Previously, it was believed that Imu-Sama might be having ahuge similarity with Kaido, the King of the Beasts. However, a new fan theory states that the character’s power might be based on a character from Japanese mythology.

The fan (@Rex_Kroko) took to X, where they mentioned that the last antagonist of the series might be having the powers of a Hanzaki, which translates to monstrous versions of giant Japanese Salamanders.

The fan further mentioned the unbelievable regenerative powers of the creature, who can survive even when its body is cut in half. This led to a surge of surprise and shock in theOne Piececommunity, as they shared their opinions on the post.
One PieceFans React to The Salamander Powers
The fans were quick to realise that the power of a Hanzaki will be bad news for our protagonist, as its regenerative powers and size already make him a considerable foe. To make matters worse, the villain’s other abilities remain in the shadows.
Sadly, revealing the other abilities will not make things look optimistic for the Straw Hat. However, fans did not look disappointed because they reacted positively to the theory and are looking forward to the showdown. They commented,

Interesting, I didn’t know about this yokai. I like it
it would make sense the beef between the celestial dragons and the D clan has gone on for age and luffy not beating a dragon would be a hitnmiss knowing that salamanders were another name for Dragons in Europe and it would be quite interesting to see this fight (more in part two)
I’m Japanese, but this was the first time I’d heard of that animal’s name. I didn’t know most of the animals that the Five Elder Stars were based on, so I think Im-sama’s is probably spot on.
Blackbeard better be final villain then 😭😭😭 I prefer imu being lucifer or the devil himself
nice theory, not bad
Nevertheless, the battle between Imu-Sama and Monkey D. Luffy would break the internet because the hype is gradually building and the theories following the series are just adding to the popularity of the title.
