How To Play Go
Each player had abag or box of stones.These stones are thecolor black for one playerandwhite for another. Traditionally the board is19x19, but beginners can start with a 9x9 board instead. There are a total of361 intersectionson the board, and you are able to place one of your pieces on one of them each turn. The goal of the game is tocontrol a higher percentage of the boardover your opponent.
Aterritoryis anempty intersectionon the board, allsurrounded by the same color. If you cansurround an opponent’spieces, they will be consideredcaptured. Captured pieces are removed from the board and put aside as “Prisoners.” Each of them is worthadditional points. A “String” is a row of pieces of the same color.
The only way to remove pieces is to capture everyone in the string at the same time. Capturing your own pieces will give you prisoners that will givenegative points, making this action highlyinadvisable. A good strategy is toinvade the opponent’s territory while also claiming your own.
