Metaphor: ReFantazio is set in the United Kingdom of Euchronia. When the King is assassinated, a succession crisis begins, with the former monarch’s spirit returning to enforce the rules, with the final contestant being named the next ruler. This sets off a mad rush across the continent, with the protagonist and their allies scrambling to garner support to win.
Metaphor: ReFantazio lacks the monster-collecting aspect of Persona or Shin Megami Tensei, replacing it with a more standard fantasy party and job system. They dohave Persona-style spiritsthat are summoned when using job abilities, but the main battle system is all about mixing and matching class powers to make the strongest party possible.
