The endgame boss fights inOctopath Traveler 2come with their own unique challenges, all of which can still be a struggle for the uninitiated. Finding the best items, or more aptly earning the best items, is one of the most important things you’re able to do. In order to complete the final chapters of your party’s storylines, you’ll need all the help you can get.

Especially when you’re still leveling up, it can be crucial to equip strong gear. Not only can you have a better chance of beating the next boss you face, but strong weapons can help you grind up valuable XP to make your party even more formidable.
10Dancer’s Blade
A few of the weapons on this list are rewards for bringing rusty weapons to the blacksmith in Gravell. Located in the Wildlands, the northern part of the western continent, the town of Gravell is home to the Retired Blacksmith Porta.
Once you locate his weapons shop, Porta will tell you about the Rusty Weapons scattered throughout Solisita. When you bring him the Rusty Dagger, he will forge it into the Dancer’s Blade - a dagger with Physical Attack +300 and a slim chance to afflict the target with poison, blindness, confusion, or sleep.

9Spirtlord’s Staff
One of the earliest rusty weapons you may find is the Rusty Staff. By heading to the Seat of the Water Sprite in the Crestlands, the Rusty Staff is sitting in a treasure chest waiting to be found. Once reforged by the blacksmith Porta, it becomes the Spirtlord’s Staff.
With Physical Attack +160, Elemental Attack +320, and the Attack Effect: Recover SP equivalent to 1% of the damage dealt, Spirtlord’s Staff is one of the best mage weapons in Octopath Traveler 2. What Spirtlord’s Staff lacks in physical damage capabilities, it more than makes up for in elemental power.

8Conqueror’s Sword
If you’ve visited the village of Winterbloom in the Winterlands, you may have noticed a woman standing near a sword thrust into the earth. Like the mythical sword Excaliber, the Rusty Sword is waiting for someone worthy to come along - or at least someone with a Sturdy Pickaxe.
Once you free the Rusty Sword from the stone, Porta the blacksmith will reforge it into the Conqueror’s Sword. This blade has a measly Physical Attack +200, however, it also comes with the Attack Effect: raise physical attack by 250 against broken foes. While not the best sword against shielded foes, the Physical Attack +450 against broken foes is enormous.

7Battle-Tested Axe
Many of the upcoming weapons on this list are Battle-Tested - a collection of weapons that is among the most sought in Solistia. While there is a very slim chance to earn these weapons earlier, the primary method of acquiring a Battle-Tested weapon is by completing several characters' stories.

If you’ve finished Temenos’ story chapters, for example, you can obtain the Battle-Tested Axe. This axe has Physical Attack +400, Elemental Attack +250, and the Equip Effect: raises the potency of lightning and ice-based attacks. While not the best stats for a physical damage dealer, this axe is perfect for mages.
6Battle-Tested Dagger
Even though it has the lowest stats of any Battle-Tested weapon, the Battle-Tested Dagger is still one of the most powerful weapons in Octopath Traveler 2. Perfect to equip on Throne, this dagger comes with Physical Attack +380, Evasion +120, and the Attack Effect: slim chance to reduce the target’s accuracy.
This dagger is a physical damage dealer’s most powerful option. While Temenos and other spell users may want a dagger that empowers elemental abilities, characters with the Thief and Armsmaster jobs couldn’t ask for anything more.

5Battle-Tested Staff
The best staff for a spell caster to wield is the Battle-Tested Staff. This weapon grants Physical Attack +200, Elemental Attack +400, and the Attack Effect: slim chance to reduce the target’s speed. The +400 Elemental Attack from the Battle-Tested Staff will turn your mages into spell-slinging terrors.
Particularly useful on Osvald, the Battle-Tested Staff makes his spells hit harder than any other weapon in the game. After you complete Partito’s storyline, head back to Oresrush one more time and pick up this unparalleled staff.

4Battle-Tested Spear
Weapons can have a combination of stats that increase damage dealt or reduce incoming attacks. In the strongest instances, weapons also come with an Attack or Equip Effect that adds additional potency to the item. On top of the amazing stats that the Battle-Tested Spear has, it also comes with one of the best Attack Effects.
Coming with Physical Attack +390 and Critical +120 would already make the Battle-Tested Speara first-rate polearm. With the addition of its Attack Effect (slim chance to blind the target), the Battle-Tested Spear is the best-in-slot.
3Battle-Tested Bow
Everything that makes the Battle-Tested Spear best in class is also present in the Battle-Tested Bow. The offensive stats of Physical Attack +390 and Critical +120 return and the Battle-Tested Bow also comes with the Attack Effect: slim chance to reduce the target’s physical defense.

For your characters looking to upgrade their bow, you can’t do better than the Battle-Tested Bow. Once you obtain it, you should equip this weapon on a character that will attack with their bow at every opportunity to maximize the uptime of the debuff it inflicts.
2Battle-Tested Blade
Once you discover the Retired Blacksmith Porta, he can teach you the ways of the Armsmaster. This Advanced Job isn’t a starting job for any of the 8 travelers but it provides a character with the ability to equip all weapon types. Particularly strong on Hikari, the Armsmaster Job, and the Battle-Tested Blade are best when used by a physical damage dealer.
The Battle-Tested Blade comes with Physical Attack +400, Critical +120, and the Equip Effect, which raises the potency of physical skills. These benefits offer a tremendous benefit to the character who wields this blade.
1Serpent Slayer
The only weapon that can top the Battle-Tested weapons is the unbeatable Serpent Slayer. This sword comes with Physical Attack +420, Accuracy -75, and Critical -150 (those aren’t typos, the Serpent Slayer lowers the character’s Accuracy and Critical stats). What looks like a mixed blessing is actually what makes this sword the best weapon in Octopath Traveler 2.
The negative stats that accompany the Serpent Slayer can be reversed by the accessory: Blessing in Disguise. When equipping a Blessing in Disguise, any items on the character will have their negative stats turned into benefits. Once you find the Serpent Slayer, make sure that you also find a Blessing in Disguise.
