God of Waris one of PlayStation’s most successful franchises of all time. Starting back in the PlayStation 2 era and the soft reboot with the 2018 entry, it has captivated fans with its mythology and intense gore. Sony thought it would be a nice idea to let fans vote on which other IP is worthy of going toe-to-toe with it, and fans have pittedMarvel’s Spider-Manas a top pick.
PlayStation only competes with itself; its first-party studios are capable of crafting an immersive gaming experience and can deliver on the promise of greatness. Insomniac has yet to drop the ball with the incredible work it has done in the past. Sony fed its fans well in 2018 with the back-to-back releases ofGod of WarandMarvel’s Spider-Man,as they were both nominated for Game of the Year.
God of War Remains Undefeated in Competition Orchestrated by PlayStation
Sony posted on its X page, and within it are several of its exclusives being lined up for a competition as it allowed fans vote for their favorite PlayStation game, and the results are unsurprising.

Sony’s commitment to the studio has paid off more times than it could count.

While all the games were works of art, and many even have overwhelmingly positive reviews and feedback from fans,GoWis simply a cut above the rest. The changes they made to Kratos made him a much more endearing protagonist than Peter Parker’s Spider-Man by making him far more relatable despite being an omnipotent Greek god.

The PS banner has always been tantamount to quality; its stories and characters became icons overnight. The trials and tribulations that Kratos faced became a symbol of hope and redemption, especially with how theValhallaDLC ended suggeststhat there’s moreGoWcontent coming in the future.

Kratos has nostalgia by his side; Spider-Man may be a more popular character given his exposure in films, comics, and other games; the journey and the work Santa Monica did with Kratos resonated with fans on a human level.
Change is the driving force ofGoW, not power, glory, or even intense combat. Cory Barlog mentioned that he now views Kratos as an example that human beings are capable of change and that it is unhealthy to remain the same.
PS houses the greatest gaming library in the history of video games; no other company was able to put out back-to-back high-quality exclusive titles that helped elevate the art form. Video games are a great way to tell stories in a more in-depth and immersive way that couldn’t be achieved in film.
