Not much aboutBorderlands 4has been revealed as of now, apart from a teaser trailer and the first-look trailer. However, one thing about the upcoming game is certain: it will avoidBorderlands 3’shumorous aspect since the upcoming game is set in a rather grim and darker world.
Sam Wrinkler, the narrative director ofBorderlands 4, reassured fans about the absence of any trash toilet humor. However, we might see some dark humor in the game this time around, which might just be the right way to go about it.
Borderlands 4relinquishes toilet humor once and for all
Borderlands 3was criticized for excessive toilet humor and payers felt that this approach towards comedy was distracting them from the main story. This criticism is likely the reason why the developers got pushed to rethink the comedic style for the upcoming title.
Humor has been an integral part of the Borderlands series; however, it would be interesting to see how it gets incorporated into the game this time around, given the dark settingBorderlands 4is set in.

We could see a more nuanced take on comedy this time around with minimum repetitive gag-based humor. Instead, the developers could be looking at a smarter way to make people laugh by incorporating situational comedy that will complement the game’s dark setting.

It is important to exchange dialogue with the players to get to know what they expect out of a game. Gearbox Softwareseems to be taking care of its player community.
