Comedian and actor Pete Davidson apparently wanted out ofSNLjust after one season. As many know, Davidson got his big break in 2014 when he was recruited as a cast member inSaturday Night Liveat just the age of 20. Although he has made appearances in shows here and there before that,SNLwas what turned him into a household name.

In fact, he went on to work for eight glorious seasons in the show before leaving in 2022. He also penned quite a heartfelt letter during his farewell thanking his fellow cast and crew, as well as the audience for supporting him through it all.

As a result, his recent admission that he wanted to leave the show just after his first season has come as quite a shock. What has made it worse is the heartbreaking reason behind it.

After my first year, I actually called for a meeting with Lorne. I was like, ‘Please fire me. I don’t belong here. Everybody here is so talented, and they don’t want to be my friend.’ I was a child! I was like, ‘Nobody wants to be my friend!’

However, Michaels apparently calmed him down and talked him out of it. As the comedian recalls, the showrunner gave him some solid advice on the matter that helped him weather through the challenges.
