Winston Churchill thinks it’d be a great idea to take Gallipoli. Surely this will be a great excursion with no major consequences; you’ll just have to keep up your momentum and you’ll win!
Or, so says this upcoming entry in a historicalfirst-person shooterseries - WW1: Gallipoli. With freshly-improved graphics and a new game mode, the developers at BlackMill Games are looking to drive hype for their new release.

“The signature game mode of Gallipoli is a 50-player battle all about momentum,” the devs say in aSteam postabout the upcoming game. “If you’re on the attacking side, your aim is to complete your objectives as quickly as possible. Doing so keeps your momentum high and your allies motivated.”
It’s an interesting idea, almost encouraging the kind of overwhelming steamrolls you see other multiplayer shooters attempt to avoid. It also offers the defenders something of a new win-condition: you don’t have to actually halt the enemy advance. You just need to slow them down.

“The defenders however, will want to bunker down and hold the objectives as long as possible to waste the enemy’s momentum. Once that starts to bleed dry, the attackers are in trouble.”
The post doesn’t specify what that ‘trouble’ is or may look like - BlackMill may still be working that out themselves - but the fact that defenders don’t strictly need to do any “retaking of control point gamma” type stuff has curiosity piqued.
The post also hints that your objectives, as an attacker may start to shift around as the fight develops. “Other opportunities will reveal themselves that can recuperate lost momentum. Battles in Gallipoli play out differently every time, and it’ll be up to you to figure out the best approach!”
New Game, New Visuals For The WW1 Series
You like history? BlackMill likes history. They’re very subtle about it, making games that are actually recreations of real WW1 conflicts (wow!).
If you ignore the mess of battle and look closely at the gun in your hands, you’ll see a faithful reimagining of actual military hardware from the era. It’s not just the good stuff!
“We’ve gone to great lengths to faithfully recreate the weaponry used on the Middle Eastern Front,” the Steam post continues, “which was usually quite obsolete, weird or both.” BlackMill Games is taking advantage of new tech and their boosted team size to, quote, “crank the immersion to eleven.”
As for big, less subtle graphical improvements, you may see them showcases in the game’s new trailer, available for viewing on the game’s Steamstore pageand elsewhere on the internet. It’s a short one, so don’t expect any deep-dives here. Just a sweet sizzle-reel of flashy gameplay, gunfire, explosions, and men rushing to experience the heroism, and horrors, of WW1.
“You’ll hear from us again soon with new intel about Gallipoli,” the Steam post concludes. “Until then, hoşça kal!”
