The world of the story is too big to fit inside just a couple of projects. The first two movies were released just a few months apart and there are already plans to make more. AsperThe Hollywood Reporter,the script of the third movie was in the works before the second was released.

However, with themixed receptionofRebel Moon: Part Two – The Scargiver,rumors of the series being scrapped have been doing rounds. Industry insider Daniel Richtman recently took to X to clarify that no such statement has been made by any person associated with the film.

Rebel Moon‘s writer Kurt Johnstad shed some light on the future of the franchise in an interview withScreenrant.He revealed that the series was initially conceived as a trilogy of movies and the first movie was then split into two parts –A Child of FireandThe Scargiver,both of which are currently streaming on Netflix.

According to him, the series will have a total of six movies, which is essentially a trilogy being split into two movies each. He also revealed that Snyder had started working on the script of the third movie.

“So when I say six movies, it’s really a trilogy with each movie being two parts. That’s how we’re thinking of it now. But, again, a lot of things have to happen…. But that’s what we want to do. We want to give fans six movies or a trilogy in two parts each…. Actually, Zack has already started writing because he’s like that. I think he’s already written the first thirty pages of movie three.”
