TheFalloutseries is one of the most popular RPG series of all time, and it has also propelled Bethesda to new heights. After the last game in the video game series was a letdown for most fans, the next title is rumored to be released after a long wait.

The upcoming Fallout 2 FPS remake looks stunning and is also making progress rapidly.

Until then, fans can check out other unconventional experiences in the series. Fans of the IP are currently developing one such experience. Fans are remakingFallout 2from a first-person perspective, and there are already over 100 people working on it.

Fallout 2 First-Person Remake Making Fast Progress

With the recent popularity of the TV show based on the IP streaming exclusively on Prime, even the title considered the weakest in the series;Fallout 76recently hit an all-time high in active players. As an extension, there is enough demand for anything related to the IP as its popularity has been boosted thanks to the Prime Video adaptation.

“It’s one of the coolest locations in the game!”: Fallout 76’s Most Unbelievable Location was Inspired by an Equally Incredible Real Life Counterpart

WhileElder Scrolls 6keeps Bethesda busy, the next entry in the series will come after that, but that could be a long time for fans craving a new experience. Lucky for them, that is where the first-person remake ofFallout 2comes into the picture. The game’s project head, who The Gamer recentlyinterviewed, stated that the team working on the project is planning to release it on Steam:

I’m leaning towards doing what Enderal: Forgotten Stories did and putting it on Steam…We would have to figure out all the specificities with that, making it so…there are no legal issues. But we’ll see – we’re still looking into it.

As the project head admitted, the specificities of the game’s release on inarguably the biggest PC video game marketplace will not be easy, but it is what the team is aiming for. The codename for the remake isProject Arroyo, and there is even a Twitter Account by the same name, managed by the game team, and updates regarding the game are posted on it.

Bethesda Might Benefit and Be Targeted if the Fallout 2 Remake Exceeds Expectations

Bethesda hasn’t been the most excellent RPG video game developerlately, with releases likeStarfieldandFallout 76underwhelming in the industry. Honestly, people don’t hold the studio in remarkably high value, especially considering the state where most Bethesda games launch.

Fans Are Begging Bethesda for a Return to a Forgotten Fallout Title, and Think Xbox’s The Coalition May Be the Perfect Developer to Make it Happen

If a team of 100 individuals can ensure a better experience for the game, it could spell trouble for Bethesda. While the company will still profit from it as it owns the IP and will probably even receive a royalty, fans will see Bethesda as a AAA video game company that couldn’t match a 100-person team.

Indeed, due to recency bias, people won’t even consider that developing a game likeFallout 2is incredibly different and much more complex than creating a remake. Regardless, if recent outbursts by gamers are any indication, people will take every opportunity to bash AAA studios. AAA games feel even more unfinished nowadays than their indie contemporaries.

Bethesda has apparently lost its touch.
