Kabuto Yakushi, the follower of Orochimaru was one of the main instigators of the Fourth Great Ninja War inNaruto. He worked as a spy for many different people companies, and nations for most of his life. Even though Kabuto gains a great deal of knowledge about the world under Orochimaru, he ultimately concludes that his life of helping others has kept him from developing a sense of self.

After that, he pursues power and uses his superior position to his advantage to play a significant role in the Fourth Shinobi World War and discover his true place in the universe. While discovering himself, he went on the villainous path during the Fourth Great Ninja War and became one of the most hated individuals inNaruto.
However, according to oneNarutotheory, Kabuto was actually a good guy who was just pretending to be evil just like Itachi Uchiha, but his sacrifice was never known by other characters ofNarutomaking him a more tragic silent hero of Konoha than Itachi.

Kabuto Yakushi Was One of The Biggest Villains ofNaruto
When Kabuto was younger, Orochimaru became interested in him because of his natural aptitude for acquiring intelligence and medicine, and Kabuto became his right-hand man. But instead of living in Orochimaru’s shadow forever, he made the decision to forge his own path and establish himself later on in the series.
In the Fourth Great Ninja War, Kabuto played a significant role alongside Obito and was accountable for most of the formidable foes the alliance faced. He brought numerous powerful shinobi from the past back to life and refined the skill of Edo Tensei. Reanimating Itachi Uchiha was his worst error, and it ultimately brought him to utter destitution.

Despite his misdeeds, Kabuto was spared jail time after the war and was instead given some liberty, which led to him eventually taking over as the head administrator of the Konoha Orphanage. However, a fan theory states that Kabuto was a good guy from the beginning of the series.

Theory States Kabuto Yakushi Was Actually a Good Guy
Although Kabuto has been following Orochimaru since the beginning of the story, he was given the tag of an evil character from the start. Fans believed that Kabuto just like Orochimaru is a power-hungry individual who only want to see death and destruction of nations, especially Konoha.
However, there is a popular fan theory that states that even though Kabuto followed Orochimaru, his actions unintentionally helped the good guys ofNaruto. This has led fans to believe that in reality, Kabuto worked as a spy for Jiraiya. Fans have conjectured that Kabuto was actually a covert agent of Konoha and had always been a nice man giving information to Jiraiya since Jiraiya always seemed to have inside knowledge about Orochimaru.

He led others to assume he was a villainous henchman even though he had initially been helping Konoha. But later on in the story, he was corrupted and turned into the same person he was faking to be. If this theory is correct, then, unlike Itachi, no one will ever know about his sacrifice and he will be a silent hero of Konoha.
