The past year for the MCU has been the worst that the franchise went through with one of its films flopping at the box office, something that had never happened before in its history. But when it comes to films not being liked by the audience, projects like Benedict Cumberbatch’sDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessalsocome to mind, a film that was released before last year.

This film, which also featured Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, wasn’t that well-received by the fans of the franchise, despite having a great box office run. But now, it seems like the sentiments have changed, as more fans have come forward to defend this film and claim that it was a lot better than how people remember it.
Fans Defend Benedict Cumberbatch’sDoctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness
It’s hard to satisfy everyone, as they say, which is more than evident in the entertainment industry where the audience has varied tastes and likings. In the superhero space, the biggest name right now is the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has some of the highest grossing films of all time under it’s belt.
Yet catering to the fans isn’t an easy job, which is something that the franchise learned the hard way when many of its films started to underperform at the box office with each subsequent movie. For example,Benedict Cumberbatch‘sDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The film also starringElizabeth Olsenwas not received as expected by Marvel Studios, at least on the critical scale, though it did fairly well for itself on the commercial front, earning $955 million at the box office. But now, fans who have got the chance to revisit or have decided to give their opinions on the film have claimed it wasn’t as bad as it was claimed by most.
Multiverse of Madness is easily one of the best and most underrated films in the entire MCU, and isn’t praised enough.

It’s sad in hindsight as to just how memed it was initially when it’s clear that Sam Raimi and everyone involved were extremely passionate about the story and…pic.twitter.com/YUI9KBRfty

Many also claim that the negative reviews that were left for the film made everyone else’s preconception of it just as negative, which stayed with them even while watching the film in theatres, creating a negative bias for most of the audience.
And now, fans have conflicting opinions on the internet about how the film was and whether it was actually bad or just misunderstood.

What Do the Fans Have to Say About This?
With so many conflicting views emerging here and there, the fans are bound to be divided on the film’s critical performance and its contributions to the franchise.

Lots of passion here, for sure. I really felt that when they fired the director, hired a new director three months before the filming start date, and removed the original villain of the film to replace it with a studio-mandated TV tie-in.pic.twitter.com/Zru2H6zjeM

I think it’s definitely underrated. Yes, Wanda regressed. She was corrupted by the Darkhold. People sometimes lose their way. But all in all, it was a fun film and I liked the horror elements.

The best way to make up one’s mind about the film being a banger or a bust is to give it a second chance and rewatch the film in its entirety.
