While Assault Rifles and Submachine Guns are the most used weapons inModern Warfare 2, LMGs are a considerable choice due to their effective range and large magazine size. The 556 Icarus is currently among the few LMGs in the game. Although this weapon is still considered slow as opposed to most Assault Rifles, choosing the 556 Icarus for Warzone 2 will provide you withgreater accuracy and recoil control, as well as alarge magazinefor the base build.

The556 Icaruspossesses thebest mobility for its weapon type, plus a moderatelyfast ADS speed. However, it is tied with the RPK and the RAAL MG in terms of recoil control. Stats-wise, the 556 Icarus sits somewherein the middle of the LMG category, aiming tobalance speed for accuracy and rangeover the other weapons of its type. The largest drawback of the 556 Icarus is its high amount of vertical recoil, but this can be resolved with the right attachments.
Unlocking The 556 Icarus
The 556 Icarus cannot be unlocked through the standard means of leveling up, as it is part of theM4 Weapon Platform. Therefore, you must fulfill the following criteria to access this LMG. Firstly, you mustreach level 4 to get Custom Loadoutsto access the M4. Now all that is left is to progress theM4 to Weapon Level 18 to unlock the 556 Icarus. Guns are leveled up by gaining Weapon XP, with the fastest strategy being to get eliminations with the weapon you are trying to level up.

This class setup does not provide players with a lot of mobility. So, for your first Base Perk, go ahead and equipDouble Time. Doing so will allow you tomaintain your tactical sprint for a longer duration. Next, go ahead and equipScavengertogive you the ability toresupply ammunition from eliminated players, thus allowing you to go for those higher killstreaks – or even an MGB Nuke.
Next, go ahead and takeFast Handsas your Bonus Perk forfaster reloading. This perk will alsoquicken your weapon swap speed, making it much easier to switch to your secondary if you are caught whilst reloading. Lastly, consider runningQuick Fixas your Ultimate Perk. Doing so will allow you toquickly regenerate your health upon gaining eliminations.
As always, ensure to swap out Scavenger for Overkill in your Warzone 2 loadout. Ammunition can be found everywhere in Battle Royale, so prioritize taking an additional primary weapon.
Swap-To-Secondary Recommendations
Even with Fast Hands, the reload for the 556 Icarus is still quite slow. Therefore, verify to take areliable swap-to-weaponto keep you covered when you are not given enough time to reload your primary. TheX13 Autois the best option in this regard due to itsfast draw time and high DPS. Make sure to equip theIMPACT POINTbarrel to enhance your customization options, along with the50 ROUND DRUMmagazine.
For Warzone 2, instead, consider taking anSMG. The 556 Icarus will be able to handle players who are further away. However, a Submachine Gun will prove helpful in times when you are caught whilst reloading or just sweeping buildings for close-range engagements.TheLachmann SubandtheFennec 45are excellent choices in this regard.
