Not only is Hidetaka Miyazaki known for his fantastic direction inDemon’s Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Armored Core: Last Raven, but his involvement inElden Ringsaw him win several Game of the Year awards. Following the release of the hotly-anticipated trailer for the DLCElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Miyazaki sat down with IGN to talk about future Souls games and the success of Elden Ring.
During theinterview, Miyazaki was asked if Elden Ring held any further secrets that players were yet to discover, and even though he was “surprised and delighted by how much the players do discover”, there was an apparent “small element” that he felt had not yet been unveiled by anyone. Naturally, this has left players quite bewildered about what this element could be.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Players Have A Wild Theory About Halsin’s True Identity
Baldur’s Gate 3 players theorize a potential plot twist by Larian Studios that Halsin is only pretending to be an elf and is in disguise.
While discussing a plethora of Elden Ring topics with Matt Kim at IGN, including the game’s open-world design and putting his trust in the players when it comes to Soul’s titles, Miyazaki was asked: “if there were any remaining mysteries left for players to find in the current version of The Lands Between”. Although his initial response was that he didn’t think there was anything left to unearth that hadn’t been found already by Elden Ring’s loyal fanbase, he did surprisingly state that there was one small thing that hadn’t been detected as yet.

“For me personally, there is a small element that I feel has not yet been discovered. So, whether that’s up to user interpretation or up to just further investigation and playing, that’s something I’m looking forward to. I think it’s a question of when and not if, but there may be something small still missing.” replied Hidetaka Miyazaki.
Of course, this hasopened up a discussionon Reddit about what this small element would possibly be, with many scratching their heads in confusion. Many believed that he was making yet another joke, as he did when Dark Souls was released by saying that he’d pick the pendant or nothing. This left players scouring the game in search of its meaning and to get to the bottom of what this pendant was all about. In the end though, Miyazaki revealed that he wasjust playing a prank, and it had absolutely no meaning whatsoever.

This could indeed be the reasoning this time too, with a few believing he wants players to jump into the game again to search The Lands Between, which would make perfect sense, because why wouldn’t he want more people playing Elden Ring? Especially now with the upcoming DLC.
One Reddit user commented that they thought he might be “either trolling or he’s referring to something that was cut that he doesn’t remember was cut. Like the Miranda Prayer tool or Kale’s cut quest line.” Another commenter believes that he might not be “referring to an actual item per se. Possibly theme or greater purpose?”. Whatever the reason, and whether he could be playing another one of his tricks or not, you can bet your bottom dollar that players will still scour Elden Ring to try to be the first to discover this mysterious “small element” that no one has come across before.
