With a card kit that lets her fit into any role except support, Captain Marvel is often the tank of the team before ramping up her damage to take out enemies and bosses. As with many things in Midnight Suns, understanding how to play each character to their best potential is complicated. To help, here is a quick breakdown of some major tips and tricks for playing Captain Marvel.
5Higher, Further, Faster
When used in the right way, Captain Marvel’s presence on the battlefield is one of a tank, an assassin, and a damage-focused character. Marvelously, she manages to do all of this simultaneously.Once Marvel can land a few Heroic abilities in her Binary form, the level of devastation against enemies ishard to come back from. She is also a character that benefits from a lot of her type of cards in a player’s hand.
This is both a blessing and a curse as it highlights Captain Marvel’s main flaw:it takes time and Heroism for her damage to be effective. Similarly to Blade, Carol Danvers needs to survive a few rounds before she can really start wiping her foes off the floor. Once she gets going though, her combination of Block, Counter, and high damage is nearly unstoppable.

4Deck Building Strategy
One thing unique about Captain Marvel is theamount of Taunt, Block, and Counter given to her kit. Early on in a match, she’s meant to be a heavy tank for the team. However, Danvers will be expected to take on a lot of damage on the way to using Binary and a decent Heroic card like Photon Beam or Rain of Blows.
Overall, a good Captain Marvel deck shouldbalance Skill and Attacks cards. Things like Bring It On, Regroup, and Cosmic Ray are ideal. Of course, use upgraded abilities whenever available. At the minimum, stacktwo Photon Beamsand bringeitherone Supernova or one Rain ofBlowsif there is abossto take down.

3Best Cards
Captain Marvel’s cards have to do with surviving long enough to do big-time damage. She will always want to bolster any Heroic card use with what might be her best card:Go Binary. This is a free card that boosts all damage and gives Block.Photon Beammight be Captain Marvel’s next best, with a straight, damaging photon beam she emits from her hands.

Supernova, Rain of Blows, Regroup, Bring It On, and Cosmic Rayare a few more must-have cards in her kit. Marvel will always benefit from having a lot of her type of cards in a player’s hand. So, one strategy is tohoard Captain Marvel cards until 4 or 5 are saved up. This guarantees a Go Binary appearance and can be used to strategize major blows to enemies.
2Battlefield Strategy
Though Captain Marvel’s overallstrategyfor the battle is prettysimple, executing it well takes some practice and focus. In general, Marvel is always trying to do the same thing:pull off a Heroic card while in Binary form, which ramps up the damage while making her Tankier. Go Binary takes playing 3 Captain Marvel cards, though, and players will want to save up for use with a Heroic card.
Marvel needs all thehelp surviving through the early roundsof a match, and her passive ability helps round out that weakness.Didn’t Feel a Thingis thename of Captain Marvel’s passive, and it has a chance to give Danvers aCounter buff after KO’ing an enemy. This mechanic can also be abused on grunts to help trigger Captain Marvel’s tanky role.

1Team Role
One of the few characters that can inhabit multiple roles well, Captain Marvel fits wonderfully into almost any team composition. Players should use her as a tank foremost, and at the very least, Marvel is best paired with one or more supports.Nico, Magik, Hunter, and Dr. Strangeare all good choices for placement on a team next to Danvers. Captain Marvel does clash with a few characters, though, and not allcomboswork out. Specifically,Iron Man does not play well with Captain Marvel. This is because Iron Man needs to have a lot of cards through a hand to be effective, and so does Carol.
Having them both on a team makes neither one effective. Also,Blade clashes a little with Captain Marvelfor a similar reason to Tony Stark: it takes time for his kit to get good. As a result, grouping upCaptain Marvel withdamage characters like Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Ghost Rideris the way to go.
