Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War -The Conflict-is the third installment to the TYBW arc and has been a much awaited series. Of course, the first episode of the series made a grand entrance as it showcased the phenomenal power of Yhwach and some intense action scenes. The prospect of Aizen’s return also gave goosebumps to fans, and the episode earned a much-deserved rating of 9.7 on IMDB.

However, things soon turned sour when sometoxicOne Piecefans collectively decided to review-bomb the episode. This was allegedly done after the release of episode 1121 ofOne Piece.The actions ofOne Piecefans led the IMDB rating of theBleachepisode to drop to 8.9. At the time of writing this article, the averagerating has risen to 9.0. In contrast, episode 1121 ofOne Piecereceived anaverage rating of 9.1.
Thus, it can be assumed that the review bombingworked out in favor of theOne Piecefandom. While some amount of rivalry is expected among fandoms, spoiling the ratings of an episode just to hype up one’s favorite series is simply childish.
My Hero AcademiaScores a Silent Win from theOne Piece-BleachWar
Season 7 ofMy Hero Academiadebuted on June 22, 2025, with 8.5 ratings. The average ratings for its episodes varied from 7.1 all the way up to 9.7 on IMDB. But episode 21, the latest one,holds a rating of 9.4. TheOne PieceandBleachepisodes that were released during the same week received ratings of 9.7 and 9.5, respectively.
Needless to say, ifOne PieceandBleachfans keep being at war with each other, other series are bound to benefit from it. The ratings of both franchises will go down, and it will pave a path for anime likeMy Hero Academia, Re: Zero, Dandadanand others to overtake them in the competition.

This does not mean thatMy Hero Academiaand other anime did not deserve their ratings. However, the franchise that gets review-bombed and the rival fandom behind it both receive repercussions from it. This is a shame since neither One Piece norBleachdeserve this treatment since both are extremely interesting series.
