There are a total of 3 Energy Tanks in Phendrana Drifts, and 14 in Metroid Prime Remastered. Energy Tanks aresuit expansionsthat are utilized to increase Samus’ energy. Each time Samus acquires an Energy Tank, her current energy refills to its highest capacity. Samus’ power suit at the beginning of the game, consists of 99 energy units. This default number is then increased by 100 every time the player obtains an Energy Tank.

Whenever Samus’ Power Suit depletes energy, Samus will have limited protection - at zero, Samus will ultimately die, and the player will receive a Game Over screen. In other words, energy in Metroid Prime Remastered is synonymous with HP, so collecting all 14 Energy Tanks is helpful and alleviates the burden of gathering Energy Capsules last second. For the most part, acquiring Energy Tanks requires some platforming and utilizing some of the Power Suit’s upgrades, such as rolling as a Morph Ball, unleashing theMorph Ball Bombs, and double jumping with the Space Jump Boots. Most of the Energy Tanks throughout the game are also relatively hidden and call for basic strategy skills.

Phendrana Drifts

Phendrana Drifts is a snowy, mountainous, icy, and isolated place located southwest of the Chozo Ruins and the Tallon Overworld. Phendrana Drifts is the fourth area that Samus will need to explore in Tallon IV. The 3 Energy Tanks players will encounter in this area are some of the last Samus will find during gameplay.

Energy Tank #1 - Ruined Courtyard

This Energy Tank is beyond a yellow Morph Ball tunnel located on a ledge in the Ruined Courtyard. The snowy rocks serve as platforms to get there. However, the water in the area is too low for Samus to reach the ledge. Jump across the snowy rocks to the other side, which contains a blue Spinner.

Have Samus turn into a Morph Ball and jump to latch onto the Spinner - inside, initiate a Morph Ball Bomb to begin a short cutscene of the water filling throughout the courtyard. After the water level increases, head to the opposite side where the yellow Morph Ball tunnel is - once there, roll inside. The Energy Tank is in a small, dark room.

Energy Tank #2 - Transport Access

Head to the Transport Access, a narrow corridor with mountainous rock towering on either side. On the right, covered in thick snow, Samus can shoot the wall with a Plasma Beam, exposing a short tunnel. Have Samus walk through the tunnel to acquire the Energy Tank.

Energy Tank #3 - Research Lab Aether

In the Research Lab Aether, there are numerous tall tanks covered in ice and snow. One of the tanks in the corner of the room has an Energy Tank. Have Samus shoot the tank with a missile, which will break the glass. Jump into the tank to obtain the last Energy Tank in Phendrana Drifts.
