MAG is one of the most important currencies inMetaphor: Refantazio. It won’t seem like that at first, but trust me, you’ll realize just how imperative this resource becomes during the lategame stages.

Just as much as Reeve is important for buying necessary items, you’ll need to put equal effort into gathering a ton of MAG if you want to have a chance at purchasing those sweetElite Archetypesfor yourparty members.

All are viable, but they aren’t created equal.

The only real problem is just how repetitive some of the ways to get MAG are,and while most of their farming is done simultaneously when you’re grinding money, there are a couple of surefire methods to maximize those MAG gains.

Merchant, Paladin, and Wizard Archetypes in Metaphor ReFantazio

In this guide, I’ll briefly discuss those exact methods to obtain MAG and another somewhat ingenious strategy to help you farm it as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Defeating Elemental Enemies

This one may seem obvious, but we’re here to remind you not to neglect these enemies. From what I’ve seen, many people jump intofights with them without understanding their weaknesses.

And what happens? They’ll escape if they lose their stun status, and you don’t manage to beat them in a single turn. What do you lose?A massive chunk of MAG on the rewards screen.

Dispatching these Elementals with their appropriateelemental weaknessesgets you theUnscathed Victory bonus, giving you a bonus to the rewards from battle, and that obviously applies to MAG, too.

With the Dark Elementals you encounter during the endgame dungeons in Metaphor, you’re able to get a decent13500 MAGfrom successfully beating these enemies, so it’s well worth the trouble of melting their HP with the correct set of elemental skills.

Farming Trance Crystal Enemies

I’ve stated this exact method as one of thetop strategies for farming money in Metaphor, but it goes without saying that you can apply it to obtain MAG, too, as long as you have the patience for it.

TheseTrance Crystals are found across various dungeonsin the game and can spawn an infinite wave of enemies until the crystal’s health gets depleted and destroyed.

Though your main purpose is MAG, I still recommend using theMerchant Archetypeagainst these crystals to farm Reeve, just in case.

There’s a multitude of dungeons where you’re able to do this, but I’ll go ahead and briefly state a few notable ones, along with a rough estimate of the amount of MAG you can earn in an hour if you do these farming runs optimally.

Forsaken Tower

A floor here has two Trance Crystals that relentlessly spawn Goborns. With an hour or so of consistent farming, you’re able to get around 160,000+ MAG from this spot.

Spire of Blind Faith

No efficient Trance Crystals here, but the floor right before the final boss room has multiple skeleton enemies you can take out and then enter Akademia to reset their instance. Plus, you can take out the Mimic chest here to farm up Hero Leafs of Light tolevel up your Archetypes.Within an hour you can earn 140,000 MAG here.

Dragon Temple

While the dungeon periodically has Trance Crystals, the best spot here is towards the end of the dungeonwhen you reach the Inner Sanctum area before the final boss. Three Trance Crystals in the center of the area with an hour of farming from my experience can net you roughly 350,000+ MAG.

Your Archetypes in Metaphor: ReFantazio can learn all kinds of useful skills, such as blocking status ailments and increasing rewards.

Using The Debt Collection Skill (End-Game/NG+)

Now, we have the main event. This one is by far the best method you’re able to use in the endgame to farm MAG, at least in my humble opinion.

If you level up theMerchant Archetype to Rank 20, you’ll receive the Debt Collection skill, which allows you to siphon MAG from enemies based on your Archetype level. The exact amount is around1500 MAG, as shown in the image above, with me using a Rank 20 Tycoon Archetype.

However, the tricky bit is that this skill costs 100 MP to use,a costly skill, but honestly, since I’ve already stated this is intended for the endgame, preparation forrestoring your MPis essential here.

Make sure to unlock the Speed Cooking skill fromMaria’s Bond at Rank 4so that you don’t need to spend time whilst cooking in the Gauntlet Runner.

That’s why it is advised that youcook Cursed Love Balladsin the Gauntlet Runner before you attempt this method. This meal item mainly restores 100 MP for all allies,so make sure to cook it in abundance via the readily available ingredients from vendors.

Now, to do this method, assign four of your party members with the Merchant Archetype, get it to Rank 20,go into any dungeon in your leisure time during the final month with trash fodder enemies that won’t do too harm, and start a fight with them.

Leave a single enemy alive, and then start spamming the Debt Collection skillfrom everyone. If your MP runs out, simply recover with the aforementioned Cursed Love Ballads when feasible.

you may try going for an Unscathed Victory bonus here by activating Debt Collection three times and then defeating the enemy using the fourth party member’s turn, but I wouldn’t recommend this idea.

It’s much simpler to just thaw out every bit of MAG from a single enemy instead of unnecessarily exerting yourself to start a new battle repeatedly.

With this method, you’re able to grind upwards of 200-500k MAG in a single battle in roughly 30 minutes, especially with how fast you can spam a pre-used skill in combat using the triangle button.
