Some people associate spring with smelling the flowers and the occasional allergy crisis, but can you really appreciate the beautiful season without a bit ofvirtual violence?
Developer Reikon Games does not think so, which is whyit has announced the release date of a free playable demofor its upcomingcyberpunk shooter,METAL EDEN.

METAL EDENwas one of the highlights of theFebruary 12 PlayStation State of Playevent.
Metal Eden Revealed At PlayStation State Of Play
The new dystopian shooter already has a release date, and will not be a PS5 exclusive.
Players can get the first taste of the new game on April 8th, when the demo goes live on Steam, the PlayStation Store, and theXbox Store.

TheMETAL EDENplayable demo will have the prologue (Mission 0) and the first story mission, Paradise Lost (Mission 1).
According to the developers, the two missions will introduce the player to the gameplay mechanics with a gradualdifficulty increase, but also give a primer on the story.

Ghost In The Game
Both visually and narrative-wise,METAL EDENleans hard on 1980s and 1990s Japanese aesthetics. The game draws heavy inspiration from dystopian futuristic classics such asGhost in the ShellandNeon Genesis Evangelion, which gives it a familiar feel but not enough to not feel fresh.
InMETAL EDEN, humanity has evolved past the flesh, which makes you wonder if the Adeptus Mechanicus wrote the story. Human consciousness takes the form of cores, which reside within robots.

You play ASKA,a hyper unitthat thrives on agility and aggression to get its mission done. The game takes a unique twist on the new human condition: while attempting to fulfill her mission, ASKA dies.
Unlike our contemporary fleshy humans though, death means she is printed again, retrieves her core, and goes back at it. Every time ASKA is printed, she comes back a little stronger, which culminates in a beautiful power trip during the last levels.

With this kind of iterative design, it makes you wonder if Robert Pattinson’s character would have felt more at ease with his job in Bong Joon Ho’s dark sci-fi comedy Mickey 17.
The full release ofMETAL EDENis scheduled for May 6th on PlayStation, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. The demo will remain available throughout the pre-release period and has no time limit.
