Best Proxima Midnight Decks

Proxima Midnight’s Ability states “When this is discarded, jumps to your lowest-Power location (that isn’t full).” This means that the goal of playing Proxima is to discard her. Players should realistically never play her at 4-Cost since she will be played for free once she’s discarded. With this in mind, the best decks to run Proxima will be ones that have plenty of discard options and useful synergies to get her onto the board as soon as possible.

When this is discarded, jumps to your lowest-Power location (that isn’t full).

Proxima Apocalypse Deck

This deck focuses on increasing the Power ofApocalypseby discarding him as many times as possible and then allowingDraculato suck up that Power at the end of the game. This can be accomplished usingBlade,Lady Sif,Moon Knight, andM.O.D.O.K.which will likely result in a Proxima Midnight discard at some point as well.Ghost Riderserves as a way to retrieve accidentally discarded cards (or just to bring backBlack Cat) andMorbiusexists in this deck just to soak up the Power from all these discards.

This deck is pretty easy to choreograph, but the only real threat to its victory condition is aCosmo, though he is pretty easily avoided once he’s played.

Marvel Snap deck comprised of Proxima Midnight, Blade, Swarm, Wolverine, Daken, Gambit, Moon Knight, Black Bolt, M.O.D.O.K., Stature, and Apocalypse.

Disrupt Discard Deck

This deck relies a bit more on disrupting the opponent’s hand/gameplay than the other two. Cards likeGambit(destroys an enemy card when discarding),Moon Knight(discards a card from the enemy’s hand),Silver Samurai(discards the lowest-Power card from the opponent’s hand), andBlack Bolt(discards the lowest-Cost card from the opponent’s hand) can be used to remove cards from their hand, potentially disrupting their gameplay strategy. Using these cards, specifically, the ones that discard one from the enemy will also synergize withStature, making her drop to 1-Cost.

HavingM.O.D.O.K.in your hand also means that you may guarantee a full-hand discard on turn five, ending with anApocalypseon turn six. This deck would also be great withMorbiusslotted in to replaceWolverineorDraculamoved in place ofDaken. These swaps come down to gameplay preference and they don’t change the victory condition very much at all. By the end of the game, you’re bound to have discardedProximato receive that nice 7-Power boost in your lowest-Power lane.

Proxima M.O.D.O.K. Hela Deck

This deck focuses on one specific sequence to win games. That sequence isInvisible Woman(turn four at the latest, without having played Magik)→ M.O.D.O.K. →Hela. This interaction will result in M.O.D.O.K. discarding all cards in your hand after the game ends, and then Hela following him up to bring them all back to random spots on the board. This deck does not rely on Proxima but benefits from her inclusion.

The main drawback of this deck is the need to draw Invisible Woman, M.O.D.O.K., and Hela, pretty much in that order, to win the game. While this doesn’t seem easy to accomplish, it can happen far more often than you’d think, especially with the help ofMagik(to increase overall turn number),Crystal(to draw an additional card), andJubilee (to pull IW out of your hand if you’re in a tight situation). When this sequence is pulled off correctly, you may resurrect cards like Iron Man, Onslaught, Living Tribunal, and Infinaut to get massive lane-Power across the board. This pretty consistently wins the game.*

*This deck is much better suited for conquest mode, where players have the ability to strategically snap when they know they’re able to pull off the IW → M.O.D.O.K. → Hela sequence. It can have wildly varying results when using it to climb the ladder.

Best Proxima Midnight Counters

Proxima Midnight is an interesting card in that she is immune to most major counters. Her Ability is not On Reveal, keeping her safe fromCosmo,Enchantresscan’t target her since she is not an Ongoing card, and her Power isn’t high enough to be destroyed byShang-Chi. This means she is relatively free of major/notable counters. This doesn’t mean that her gameplay can’t be hindered, but players don’t have much to worry about when running Proxima.

Best Proxima Midnight Synergies

Proxima Midnight synergizes with most cards that have a discard Ability. As long as she can be discarded, she’s good. Cards that fall under this criteria can be found listed below, but the list is long. Some specific cards that work well with Proxima are cards likeCorvus Glaive(which will give players +1 Energy per turn after he’s played),Lady Sif(who discards the highest-Cost card in your hand), andM.O.D.O.K.(who discards the entire hand, which guaranteed a Proxmia play).

List of useful discard synergies*:

*There are plenty of other discard options, but these are the most foolproof, essential additions to a Proxima Midnight deck.

Is Proxima Midnight Worth It?

Proxima Midnight is releasing as a Series 5 card, which means she can bepurchased from the Token Shop for 5,000 Tokensor unlocked from theSpotlight Cache using a Spotlight Key. She will be appearing in the Spotlight Cache alongsideM.O.D.O.K.andDaken, two other decently useful discard cards!

The meta is currently driven by the discard archetype, with Hela being a real thorn in the side of players trying to climb the ladder. With this being said, Proxima is right at home in the current meta and is especially useful for players who grabbedCorvus Glaivewhen he released last week. If players are interested in discard decks or if they obtained Corvus Glaive last week,we recommend getting Proxima Midnightwhile she’s around.

Since she’s releasing as a Series 5 card and will surely be included in a Series Drop later down the line, it’s probably best topurchase her using Spotlight Keysif you have some lying around. Getting ahold of M.O.D.O.K. is also a great idea while he’s present if players don’t already own him!
