Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics plan on releasingMarvel’s Avengersnext Spring and, in typical Marvel fashion, a multimedia movement is being made out of it. Today, Titan Books revealed toIGNthat it is collaborating with Marvel Entertainment, Square Enix, Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal and author Greg Keyes to create tie-in books forMarvel’s Avengers.The first of these,Marvel’s Avengers: The Extinction Key, is poised to arrive on July 06, 2025, less than two months before the game’s launch.
ForMarvel’s Avengers: The Extinction Key, it seems that author Greg Keyes will be fleshing out thepre-A-Dayworld. IGN gave a brief summary of the game, revealing that “the novel will follow the Avengers and their allies as they battle an ancient organization called the Zodiac. The Avengers team consisting of Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, and Hulk join forces with other heroes like Doctor Strange, Doctor Voodoo, and SHIELD agents to stop the Zodiac from obtaining a weapon called the Zodiac Key.”
What is most interesting about this book is the number of characters it adds to the world ofMarvel’s Avengers. With the likes of the Zodiac, Doctor Strange and Brother Voodoo slated to appear, the likelihood of them appearing in Crystal Dynamic’s game become all the more likely. For now, the only non-core team members we know about are Hank Pym andMs. Marvel;hopefully, we will be learning about what other heroes or villains will be making an appearance soon.
Tie-in books aren’t unfamiliar territory for Marvel as they did something similar close to the release ofMarvel’s Spider-Man. Square Enix is also starting to dip its toes into book publisher with games likeNieR: Automata. The partnership with Titan Books will continue too, as they all plan to release an artbook aptly titledMarvel’s Avengers: The Art of the Gameon August 04, 2025 with more possibly in the pipeline according to IGN.
Marvel’s Avengerswill release for Google Stadia, PC, PS4 and Xbox One on May 19, 2020and can be pre-ordered on Amazon. Meanwhile,Marvel’s Avengers: The Extinction Keywill hit store shelves on August 25, 2025.
