Magneto Abilities Explained
Players coming fromOverwatch 2should have an easier time with Magneto if you have already played or main Sigma. You should already be accustomed to most of how Magneto’s abilities will work.
Of course, he isn’t a one-to-one match, and here is how some of his abilities are different and how all of them work.

Description
Iron Volley
Shoot a volley of magnetic orbs at the enemies in front of you. The further away you are from your enemy when it hits, the more its AoE explosion range increases.
Mag-Cannon
Magneto uses the Iron rings on his back as a metallic mass and launches a cannon forward. Having more rings increases its damage and having all four rings will knock back the enemies.
Metallic Curtain
Use it to create a magnetic barrier in front of Magneto to block all incoming projectiles.
Metal Bulwark
Create a shield around an ally. When this shield takes damage the rings on your back will generate faster.
Iron Bulwark
Create a shield around yourself. Similar to Metal Bulwark taking damage generates rings on your back quickly.
Magnetic Descent
Hold the jump button to fall slowly.
Magneto uses his powers and draws materials from within a range to create an Iron Meteor. The longer you wait the stronger it gets and will even absorb enemy projectiles. Launch it to deal massive damage to the target. Overloading the Iron Meteor will cause it to self-destruct.

Magneto Offensive Strategies
Magneto’s abilities are quite simple to understand, but depending on the situation, juggling between them can become a challenge.
Not only is his primary fire slow, but you may also only fire 10 of them before having to reload. As such, it is important you know a few basic combos of when to use Iron Volley and when to attack with Mag-Cannon.

These are some basic yet effective strategies that can help you dominate fights and take control of or hold the objective.
Magneto Defensive Strategies
For players with a good aim, defense shouldn’t be much of an issue with Magneto. He has a decent health pool and plenty of abilities that can let him take on some damage.
However, Magneto isn’t invincible. He also lacks any form of escape abilities, so there are still a few things you need to keep in mind when it comes to defensive plays with him.
Magneto Team-Up Abilities
Heroes Needed
Metallic Fusion
Scarlet Witch
Scarlet Witch infuses Magneto’s Greatsword with Chaos Energy. This lets you use projectile slashes while using your melee attacks.
Scarlet Witch is Magneto’s daughter, so it only makes sense that the Mutant duo will get stronger when playing with each other.
Metallic Fusion can be a very effective ability when you are holding an objective alone but get targeted by flying enemies.
You could start by using the Iron Bulwark to put a shield on yourself. This will prevent you from taking damage. Now, use the ranged slashes from Metallic Fusion to chip away at such an enemy’s health. This may force them to retreat for heals while your team can get back to you on the objective.
Magneto Counters & How To Deal With Them
Magneto’s biggest weakness is his slow speed and vulnerability to attacks from the sides or back. His attacks are also quite slow compared to several other heroes, so getting caught alone by the enemy can result badly.
Heroes likeVenom,Iron Fist, andSpider-Manare the ones that can cause the most trouble for Magneto. All of them are very fast and can get behind Magneto’s Metallic Curtain to start dealing him some heavy damage. This gets worse if you don’t have Iron Bulwark to defend yourself.
Flying enemies likeIron ManandStar-Lordcan also be a pain to deal with if they are out of your range. You practically have no way of getting back to them.
There really isn’t much that you can do to counter heroes fighting you from a long distance. If you feel you aren’t getting healed timely, then you can hold onto Iron Bulwark for emergency situations.
Having Wanda on your team gives you Metallic Fusion, which adds another ranged attack to your kit. Lastly, knowing health kit locations throughout the map can also help you stay alive longer.
Best Team Comps With Magneto
When it comes to playing with another duelist, Magneto should almost always be paired with theScarlet Witch. Their abilities work well with each other.
For example, using Scarlet Witch’s ultimate Reality Erasure is usually difficult for her, especially when it charges. But Magneto can add Metal Bulwark shield to protect her from getting killed. Similarly, Metallic Fusion gives Magneto access to ranged attacks for a short duration.
For a strategist, you should go withJeff the Land Shark. Magneto can lose his health quite easily, especially when you put your shield on another team member. As such, you will need a lot of heals, and that too quickly.
Jeff is one of the best healers in the game. Both his Joyful Splash and Healing Bubble can get Magneto back to full health in no time.
Finally,Venomis an ideal vanguard option for a duo with Magneto. While Magneto has plenty of abilities that allow him to block and tank enemy damage. If an unfortunate situation arises where multiple enemies decide to jump on him at the same time, things can go south.
Venom has several abilities like Frenzied Arrival to launch the enemies upward or Cellular Corrosion to slow them down. These abilities can let Magneto retreat to the healer to recover some health, forcing the enemy to fight Venom.
Once Magneto is back, Venom can swing away to heal, forcing the enemy team to constantly switch between the two vanguards and not easily kill either of them.
