Far and away, the PS5 has handily won this generation of consoles with the number of units sold and just the sheer market share when it comes to games. This doesn’t just apply to Sony’s first-party titles, as even third-party games sell more on the PS5 compared to its rival, the Xbox Series X|S.
One example of this is 2K Games' recently released narrative-driven action game,Mafia: The Old Country.

While we now know how many units the title sold when it launched, what’s more surprising here is the breakdown of platforms on which the game was purchased.
Mafia: The Old Country Launch Sales Revealed And It’s Slanted For The PS5
In a report bySensor Tower, it mentions Mafia: The Old Country has sold 800,000 units in its first five days of availability in all three platforms it’s available on.
According to the company’s data, the PS5 sales account for almost half of the total sales with 48% of units sold. Additionally, the company lists an average playtime of 8.8 hours, which is a few hours short of completing the game based on average playthroughs.

While 2K has not revealed any sales expectation numbers for the title, Sector Tower notes it as a “successful” launch that has been “embraced” by both PC and console gamers alike.
Even if it’s common knowledge nowadays that the PS5 has won this generation, I admit, seeing almost half of a game’s sales on the platform really puts things in perspective in terms of where people usually play games.

Given how Mafia: The Old Countryisn’t priced as your usual AAA title at $70, and is instead, just $50, it could very well mean that developer Hangar 13 and 2K will require a smaller number of sales to make it a profitable project.
