Valorantplayers love the game’s different gun skins, but a lot of us have gotten tired of the game’s shop system. The game’s random skin selection system for the in-game store makes it so you have to gamble every day to get the skin that you want.

One player on Reddit recently calculated the chances of getting a specific skin and revealed the odds are far worse than many might have thought. With 524 skins potentially appearing in the shop, the chance of seeing your desired skin is shockingly low.
Valorant‘s Store Is Straight Up Predatory With These Odds
The player who posted on Reddit used a manual spreadsheet to track the total number of skins, excluding Battle Pass and agent skins, leaving 524 available options. Every day, the shop refreshes with four random skins, but these are drawn from the same pool of 524 options.
As a result, the probability of getting a specific skin in any one slot is only 0.19%. Even with four shop slots, the odds don’t improve much, leaving players with just a 0.76% chance of seeing their favorite skin. For a game where people want to buy these skins, having these kinds of odds is crazy.

One of the major complaints from players is the system’s randomness and how it feels increasingly unfair as more skins are released. As new skins are added to the pool, the chances of getting older skinsnaturally decrease.
Let’s talk store pricing in VALORANT1) I fucking love this game BUT2) $71 for 4 skins (stinger, guardian, marshall, ghost) & knife-also doesn’t include price to “upgrade” which is +$56 PER ITEM is beyond my understandingpic.twitter.com/qmJE7T7xqF

This “fear of missing out” (FOMO) strategy pushes players to buy skins they may not want as badly, simply because they don’t know when they’ll see something rare again. Fans have accused Riot of manipulating their buying behavior, leading to increased frustration with both the shop system and the high prices for premium cosmetics.
Riot Probably Won’t Even Change Things, But Players Will Still Complain
Several players have suggested that Riot implement changes to improve the experience. One popular idea involves adding a re-roll mechanic, allowing players to spend in-game currency, like Valorant Points (VP), to refresh the shop. This would give players more control over their purchases.

But it would alsobecome a predatory exploitsince it would bait people into gambling more and more for rerolls with no guarantees still. While Riot hasn’t ruled out such changes, they have stated that implementing a re-roll mechanic would take time, potentially delaying other planned updates.

The idea of a reroll feature is not entirely new. Riot implemented a similar system in its other popular game,League of Legends, where players can reroll their store offerings. Fans also suggested a 12-hour refresh system, where two new skins are offered every half-day, rather than the current 24-hour cycle.
Valorant’s skin shop has been called out for a long time. Not only are the skins expensive, you can’t even get the ones you want without gambling for it. The current system benefits Riot financially but it leaves players feeling unsatisfied and manipulated.
