Indiedeveloper ‘Tomorrow Corporation’ hasannouncedthat their creative puzzle gameLittle Infernois now getting a holiday-themed expansion 10 years after its original release on theWii U. The new DLC is called ‘Ho Ho Holiday’, and will be arriving on November 18th forPC(Steam,Epic,GOG) in addition toNintendo Switch,iOSandAndroidplatforms.

In Little Inferno, children are instructed by their father to keep burning their toys in the fireplace in order to endure the harsh unforgiving cold weather and stay warm. The story takes place entirely in front of the fireplace, where not only toys but also firewood, groaning robots, credit cards, exploding fish and even unstable nuclear reactors and miniature galaxies are being burned to cinders. The short story depicts the children’s cheerful moods and their love for each other, and also an unexpected twist that gives meaning to this desire to destroy and the strange sense of loss.

The new expansion will contain a new story, 20 new toys to burn, a mysterious new character, and 50+ new combos where special effects could happen if the player burns two or three things simultaneously. There will also be an Infinite Yule log mode where you can just throw something to burn and leave it like that for some ambience and meditation. The name seems to follow the original inspiration for the game: The Yule Log Christmas TV show, which portrayed the same idea of a burning log along with classical Christmas music playing in the background without interruptions or commercials.

This game comes from the same developers who once worked on World of Goo. Their design philosophy was to make a game that respects the player enough and trusts him to figure out the direction of the gameplay and the destination by themselves. Hence why Little Inferno has a story, and even cutscenes near the end, but you can never really realize what it signifies until you reach the finish line. The soundtracks and melodies used — all inspired from the 80′s and 90′s — are freely available to download on the developer’swebsite.
