Dialogue choices are integral to the gameplay aspect ofLife is Strange: Double Exposure, always branching the narrative unexpectedly along with the characters you meet.
With its fair share ofgreat and subpar characters, you end up meeting Loretta, an aspiring (yet insanely obnoxious) journalist at Caledon University.

You’ll first encounter Loretta in theFine Arts Building towards the end of Chapter 1,where you attempt to tune into Dr Gwen Hunter’s phone call before Loretta approaches behind you.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure - How To Solve Abraxas Puzzle Box
Better than solving a Rubik’s cube, I guess
With Loretta cornering Max into answering questions regarding Safi’s murder, you either have the option to answer back or call her bluff on reporting your phone call eavesdrop to Gwen.

There’s a right answer to choose here, unlike the other morally ambiguous choices in this game, and we’re here to discuss both choices and the right one to pick.
What Happens If You Call Her Bluff
Let’s go over the bluff one first because I feel obliged to be the one to save you from the secondhand embarrassment that you and Max will face from picking this choice.
You can answer Loretta’s initial demoralizing questions regarding Safi with anything; they won’t impact anything in the narrative, as Max will refuse to answer anything else.

To anyone’s surprise, picking the “Call Her Bluff” choice will result in Loretta marching to Gwen’s office and selling us out for trying to listen in on the phone call.
Gwen will be disappointed in you, telling you to leave her alone, and I guess any past good deeds we did with her, including helping her get thebook back from the locked cabinet, will mean nothing.

You can choose to give any explanation you want, but all three will result in a similar moment of Max getting awkwardly beratedfor being a nosy gumshoe only too good for her own sake.
Now, thereal consequences won’t occur until Chapter 3,where you need to talk to Gwen in her office to learn about Maya Okada. Most importantly, you may get a chance to readSafi’s manuscript on the deskhere.

But since we got chewed out by her previously, not only will she act cold towards Max meeting her again, but she’ll also deny giving you the manuscript. Thankfully, an alternate solution is to get it from the Dead Timeline via the Shift Point in the Office.
Following this, no other bad karma bites you back for choosing this option with Loretta, as theUSB Footage scenario with Gwenlater on has its own outcomes, so if you’re curious, this won’t affect anything there.
What Happens If You Answer Loretta’s Questions
If you’re looking for thebest outcome to this confrontation, answering Loretta’s questions is the optimal choice, although you may initially think otherwise, and that’s completely fine.
When selected, Max will reluctantly answer Loretta’s twisted accusations of Safi using her mom’s position, proceeded by her asking if we know of any people that rubbed this move the wrong way.
Here’s where it gets interesting:You divert Loretta away to ask this kind of question to someone who’s worked longer at the university, eitherVinh, Gwen Hunter or Dr Fayyad (Safi’s Mom).
You can choose anyone here; don’t worry about any repercussions. The only thing you’ll notice thereafter is that person getting irritated about Loretta being a sudden nuisance to them.
I chose Vinh here because, well, both Dr. Yasmin and Gwen have ongoing issues at this point, so it wouldn’t sit right with me to send an insufferable journalist to pile things up even more for them.
Lastly, instead of giving us the cold shoulder,Gwen will sympathize with us about Safiwhen we meet with her again in Chapter 3 and insist that we check out the fabled Manuscript.
