In aninterview, actors Josh Wichard and Saskia Allen, who performed the motion capture for Mind Flayer and the player inBaldur’s Gate 3shed light on the unique challenge they faced when performing various scenes. One scene that they can’t seem to forget is where they had to perform the intimate scene.

Wichard was not alone in performing the scene as Allen was alongside him. This was a new experience for Wichard as this was going to be the first intimate scene in his career.
Our first day together was like, ‘Hey, how you doing? Let’s pretend to kiss some tentacles”, she tells me. “You just have to throw yourself into it. Josh and I immediately connected as actors.
Wichard, who played the Mind Flayer, wanted to make this a believable and engaging romance scene with the player character. He agreed with Allen that he needed to be a professional about this.
We were both really worried that it was going to be awkward, I think when you jump in with that scene, you lose any kind of awkwardness.
Both the actors wanted to not make this awkward for the players so they decided to find thebalance between the alien nature of the Mind Flayer, and the genuine emotional connection it forms with the player.
Despite the challenges, both actors agreed that the Mind Flayer romance option adds an intriguing layer to thegame‘s narrative. This makesBaldur’s Gate 3a game where anything is possible, and it all depends on whether players pick the correct option.
