Last Epochis one of the best Action RPG titles of this year with loads of content to offer for players who are looking for a fresh experience afterDiablo 4. Set in multiple timelines, each one with its own dedicated maps and explorable area, there are tons of activities to complete in this rich indie game.

Last Epoch: Beginner Crafting Guide

Crafting is a core mechanic of Last Epoch that’s intimidating at first but very accessible once you get into it. Here’s how to get started.

Dungeons are one of the most fun activities in Last Epoch, but they are not unlocked similar to most parts of the map. Each dungeon has its unique key that will allow you to venture into its depths, andthe keys are single-use items, which means once you use the key, it will be gone, whether you complete the dungeon or get killed early. But, where can you obtain these dungeon keys?

Open Golden Loot Boxes

Upon your exploration of the game’s worlds, you have probably come acrossgiant golden loot boxesthat drop loads of valuable loot. These Golden Loot Boxes can only be found by exploring every corner of each realm, but once you are close enough to them, they will receive a golden markeron your map, similar to the main campaign markers.

While these loot boxes have a chance of dropping dungeon keys, that chance ispretty small. After looting over a dozen Golden Loot Boxes throughout the game, I only managed to get one dungeon key from a Golden Loot Box at Imperial Era, which is the fifth chapter of the game.

Whenever a dungeon key drops, it will be marked on your map with ared star icon, as it’s a pretty important loot that you should not miss.

Complete Monolith Activities

After you complete Chapter 2 and gain the right to enter theEnd of Time era(where you canunlock Masteriesas well), you will find multipleMonolith isleson the map of this timeline. Each one of these Monolith isles includes multiple activities calledEchoes. Each Echo is a challenging mission where you need to enter a realm, deal with a lot of enemies, andkill a bossat the end.

While Monolith activities do drop dungeon keys sometimes, they arehigh-level missions, as the game suggests you play it once you reachLevel 50 or above. That being said, some echoes can still be completed at lower levels as well with the right build and being a bit patient. After completing each Echo, you receive one of those Golden Loot Boxes as a reward, which may include a dungeon key as well.

Arena Activity Rewards

Similar to Monoliths, Arenas are high-level activities, but they also require you to progress through the campaign significantly. Additionally,Arena itself requires an entry keysimilar to dungeons, which again, can be earned by completing Echoes in Monolith activities.

So, if your level is still below 45, you’re better off focusing on campaign missions for now — just make sure to explore every realm to find the Golden Loot Boxes. Once you are level 45, you’re able to begin to complete Monolith activities to farm both Arena and Dungeon keys.

Keep in mind that dungeons are quite difficult activities in Last Epoch. So, even if you earn a key for a dungeon, do not enter the dungeon if its suggested level is beyond your current character level; otherwise, you will likely lose the key for nothing.

Overall, Dungeon and Arenakeys have a pretty low drop rate in Last Epoch, which means you need to grind for them more than you’d expect.
