TheLanternsseries has its Hal Jordan. Kyle Chandler will be essaying the role of DC’s second Green Lantern, but the first that was a space cop. Now, it remains to be seen who the studio will tap to play the military man-turned-intergalactic law enforcement John Stewart, who will be training under Hal when theLanternsseries gets going.
There are a slew of choices that WB could go with, from keeping Wayne T Carr from the DCEU to deciding on someone else who could take the role. But there is one actor in the DCEU who would be perfect for the role, and has in fact even essayed the role in animation: Aldis Hodge.
Aldis Hodge is perfect for the role of John Stewart
Aldis Hodgehas played military men and superheroes as well. The actor has the right physique for a character like John Stewart. Further, having already played the character in two animated films, DCEU’s Hawkman seems to be more than suited to play the character of John Stewart in the DCU, under James Gunn. TheLanternsseries is set to take place on Earth, following as Stewart learns from Hal Joran what it means to be a Lantern.

The duo are expected to solve a murder, perhaps reminiscent of a series of procedural dramas, which would be the perfect fit for a Green Lantern series. However, the corp will be making their debut in the DCU with Guy Gardner in James Gunn’sSuperman. It is hard to believe that Guy Gardner will not share a space with Hal Jordan in a film as big asSuperman, but it remains to be seen who will be cast where and where all the shows line up in the timeline.
There is one other DCEU actor who would be the perfect John Stewart
Yahya Abdul-Mateen IIwould be another great choice for John Stewart in the DCU. However, even if the actor has played military men before, this might be a hard sell for the executives, given that Abdul-Mateen has found himself in the employ of the House of Mouse, who have put him to work as the MCU’sWonder Man.

The actor has already shown audiences his acting prowess in and outside superhero settings, and it remains to be seen who will be cast as the next lead of theLanternsTVseries.There will be a slew of deciding factors about the choice, but James Gunn would probably focus on the chemistry that the actor has with Hal Jordan, given that that might be the deciding factor between audiences leaving the show and staying to continue.
