Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: Should You Side With Semine Or Hashek During A Necessary Evil?

Siding with Heshek or Semine is the first major moral decision you have to make in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. But who to choose?

Your decisions throughout the quest will directly affect your material rewards and the outcome for everyone else, making this one of the more dynamic quests in the game.

Where to find the first miner in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

If you’re aiming to know what your options are (and how to maximize your rewards) while completing Post Scriptum, this walkthrough has everything you need.

How to StartPost Scriptum

To begin this quest you’ll need to first complete the main questInto the Underworld. Afterward, travel to an inn past the western gate of Kuttenberg where you’ll meet a man named Kvyertsolav.

His friends want to draft a written message for their employer, but since they cannot read or write he asks Henry for help.

Talking with Kvyertsolav in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Of course, it’s not that easy: Kvyertsolav doesn’t have any paper or ink on him, and he and seems suspicious of being overheard.

Instead, he asks you to meet his friends in a house just north of town- and when you arrive you’re to give the password “Justiceis worth more than silver." This isn’t suspicious at all, of course, so accept his terms and get walking.

Where the miners are hiding out in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

This quest includes several hard speech and scholarship checks. If your stats are too low, your options will be severely limited throughout the quest.

Meeting the Miners

Inside the hideout, you’ll meet a pair of men who asks Henry to write their letter. You can either write it exactly as they ask, or refine the message based on your judgement, but while the wording can be changed your decision doesn’t have any real impact on the quest. As the conversation continues it becomes clear that the men are miners, and that the miners are wanted men.

You learn that Markold (the shaft owner) has a couple of their number in captivity, and the miners are trying to negotiate for their freedom. You can write the letter as you will; regardless as to what you write the miners will decide to eliminate you to cover their tracks. This becomes your first real fork in the quest.

A couple of the miners get quite heated while dictating their letter to Henry in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Killing the miners here may get Henry flagged in Kuttenberg as a murderer. Best to save your game beforehand, just in case.

First Optional Ending: Defeat the Miners

If you’re unable to talk them down (or prefer a swift end to the quest) you’ll be forced into combat. you may loot their bodies for some minor valuables, mark the quest complete, and move on your merry way.

Delivering the Miners’ Letter

If you instead manage to convince them to back off then you’re immediately confronted with another choice: you may do as they ask and deliver their letter to Markold, or (knowing that they’re criminals) you can deliver them to the local Bailiff.

Second Optional Ending: Law-Abiding Citizen

You can find the Bailiff easily enough by following your map marker. Once there, Henry presents the letter, reports the location of the miners’s hideout, and leaves everything to the local authorities.

The bailiff thanks Henry for his honesty and gives you a 100-groschen tip for your troubles. All-in-all that’s not bad for simply ‘writing someone a letter,’ but the questcouldyield much more.

If you choose to deliver the letter the shaft owner, instead, follow the quest marker to his house. You may have to talk your way past Markov’s bodyguard, but that doesn’t require any fancy sweet-talking or bribes. Once in front of Markov you haveanotherquest-ending choice: help him, blackmail him, or simply deliver the letter and continue with the miner’s plans.

Third Optional Ending: Blackmailing Markold

Markold is obviously a shady man doing shady things, so youcouldtry to blackmail him after delivering the letter. It costs you a hard or very hard speech check, but if you succeed you’ll gain some local reputation and 60 groschen. While thisisa route which ends the quest ‘properly,’ it also offers the smallest award, so you’re better off going a different route.

Fourth Optional Ending: Kill Markold, Tell Miners

Henry can kill Markold during or after your meeting, and then return to the miners to report his death. This unsurprisingly, doesn’t endear you to their cause, and ends the quest with a messy skirmish. You make more money looting bodies than you get for blackmailing Markold alone, but not by much.

Markold meets the Miners

Assuming both parties are still alive, Henry will be asked to go to the Hloushetz Gate (marked on the map) and meet a couple freed miners. They may not be there when you arrive, so go ahead and wait in one-hour increments until they show up.

Talk to them for a minor reputation boost and the option to follow them back to their hideout, which sets the stage for the final outcome of the quest.

Final Ending(s): Side with Markold or the Miners

At this point Post Scriptum comes to its dramatic conclusion. Markold will inturrupt your meeting with the miners, bringing along a bunch of armed guards as backup. If you choose to side with the shaft owner he’ll reward you with 100 groschen for your loyalty. While this amountismore than the blackmail route, it’s still less than the alternative.

That’s because by siding with theminersyou’ll get 225 groschen as thanks. Already this is greater than any other pay Henry gets for the quest, but then you’llalsoget your chance to loot Markold and his henchmen! Where the miners carry pocket change and little else in their pockets, Markold’s breastplate alone is worth over 5000 groschen.
