TheGod of Warfranchise has been around for almost two decades and the gaming community is still discovering new details about 2018’s soft-reboot. The sequel is set a few years after the desolation of Olympus and the weary Ghost of Sparta has tried to change his ways, but old habits die hard.

Building a reputation of bloodlust, and murder, and genocide, the Ghost of Sparta chose to leave his old ways to pursue his second chance of being a father. Unfortunately, there are some who wish to ruin his solitude and bring out the old monster from within.

Santa Monica Studiohas spent years working on this franchise and it is wholesome to see all of the team’s hard work pay off. The developers came up witha variety of weapons for Kratosto use throughout his journey against those who means to harm his friends, and the gaming community believes he is ready to move on from one of them which was bestowed by Faye, his late wife.
The Leviathan Axe was introduced in the 2018 game and the fans fell in love with it immediately. The sequel also introduced the Norse pantheon of gods, and among them is Baldur who served as the main antagonist. Throughout the game, the two gods fought tirelessly but Kratos couldn’t kill him no matter how hard he tried until Atreus inadvertently lifted the curse making the God of Light vulnerable.

The final battle was nowhere near on the the scale of previous games but important on a more personal level. Freya fought for her son despite his intention to kill her for the curse that kept him invulnerable to all manner of harm.

The original creator wanted the players to feel like a monster, to mirror the feelings of the retired god trying his best to run away from his past. Baldur’s constant pestering lead to his untimely death by the hands of a god trying to do better.

Freya cursed her own son because of a prophecy that came to pass; by her hand nonetheless. None of this would have happened if it weren’t for fear and love and the fight itself wouldn’t have lasted long if that curse were removed.

These people has gone through enough trauma and pain to lead them to a dark path where forgiveness is no longer an option. Kratos gave the insane god every opportunity to walk away and he still refused to do so which lead to his downfall.
Anger can blur the lines between right and wrong and these gods were dealt an unfortunate hand. One chose to do better while the other succumbed to his suffering. Freya’s act of love gave her son a fighting chance against the might of the Ghost of Sparta but after it was removed, Baldur had no chance.
