There are very few names in Hollywood as legendary as Quentin Tarantino. Having given some of the biggest cult classics of the last few decades, the director is rumored to be heading into retirement after completing his self-imposed quota of ten Hollywood projects.

While there were rumors thatThe Movie Criticstarring both Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise would be his final offering to Hollywood, the project has since been scrapped, with no update on how the director plans to proceed next. One potential option seems to be a one-off Sgt. Rock movie, which Tarantino had previously admitted he himself considered.
With James Gunn constantly looking for options to kickstart the upcoming DCU, a potential Tarantino movie will be surely be a treat fans will heartily look forward to.

Quentin Tarantino once considered creating a Sgt. Rock movie
As one would expect,Quentin Tarantinois extremely choosy when it comes to accepting projects. The fact that he has only worked on 9 movies thus far (counting theKill Billmovies as one), more than proves that the director has said no to a far share of work. That seemingly includes a Sgt. Rock movie, as Tarantino himself had expressed admiration for a particular script written by David Webb Peoples.

Peoples has written some brilliant screenplays during his career, include that for12 Monkeys, Blade Runner, andUnforgiven. As it turns out, he also wrote a script for a DC movie revolving around its World War II character, Sgt. Rock. According toIndie Wire, Tarantino said the following about the screenplay:
He wrote a movie version of ‘Sgt. Rock’ that I always thought was really terrific. I don’t think I’m ever going to end up doing it but I really did like that script and it’s one of the few times I’ve considered doing another script.

In his own words, the director does not believe he will ever end up working on the movie, let alone if it turns out to be his final project. Still it will easily be the biggest coup yet forJames Gunnand the DCU, if the upcoming reboot also includes a Tarantino movie to boot!
Arnold Schwarzenegger once almost starred asSgt. Rock!
The DC character in itself first appears in the comic books back in 1959, and was a World War II hero who served for the US Army as an infantry non-commissioned officer. Sgt. Rock has appeared in multiple comic arcs and has also been involved in storylines alongside major players such asBatman, Superman, andThe Suicide Squad.
The character also appeared in a three-part episode ofThe Justice League, and was also part ofLegends of Tomorrow. While a movie iteration has not been forthcoming, one did almost end up happening back in the late 1980s, which also had a screenplay written by David Webb Peoples. Furthermore, in 2007, another iteration was set to be produced by Silver Pictures, with Bruce Willis in the lead and Guy Ritchie as the director.

Hence, the character in itself has flirted with a movie iteration multiple times, but it has not been forthcoming as of yet. James Gunn changing that, that too with a Tarantino project, will certainly be a huge win for fans and DC, both.
