More harrowing details continue to emerge surrounding Matthew Perry’s drug-affected life. Perry’s ex-girlfriend and former assistant, Kayti Edwards, opened up about one particular incident during his days of drug addiction. She revealed that Perry’s drug addiction peaked in 2011, and he tried to fight it by gluing his hands to his knees.

Edwards dated theFRIENDSactor briefly in 2006 and remained good friends with him until his death. He was found dead on October 28 in a jacuzzi in his L.A. mansion. His toxicology report determined the cause of death to be the acute effects of ketamine.

Matthew Perry Took A Horrific Step To Stop Taking More Drugs
Matthew Perry’s substance abuse began in 1997 after a doctor prescribed him some pain meds for a jet skiing accident. He barely remembered filming his iconic role as Chandler Bing onFRIENDSfrom seasons three to six. During the show, he entered rehab twice to overcome his issues. However, for Perry, it became a lifelong struggle with drug addiction.
Perry’s ex-girlfriend, Kayti Edwards, shared with The Sun U.S. that his addiction became worse in 2011. Edwards recalled findingThe Odd Coupleactor high on drugs at his home in the Hollywood Hills. When she found him later that night, Perry was on the couch with his hands superglued to his knees, preventing himself from taking any more drugs.

Edwards described the scene as“desperately sad”. She used nail polish remover and olive oil to free him, but she recalled that red, raw patches were left behind on his legs, which were horrific to watch. Edwards shared withThe Sun U.S.:
“I was at Matthew’s place in the Hollywood Hills. He was in a bad way. He had been getting high all night on a plethora of drugs, most likely crack cocaine and other substances. I found Matthew on the couch with his hands superglued to his legs — it was desperately sad. I had to use nail polish remover and olive oil to free him. We were literally ripping the hair from his legs and he had red, raw patches left behind, it was pretty horrific.”

Edwards shared that Perry’s drug problems were severe to the extent that he kept thinking about taking drugs even when he was clean or going through rehab. Earlier in November, Edwards shared with The Sun that she believed Perry had relapsed before his passing.

Kayti Edwards Called For A Probe Into Matthew Perry’s Doctors
Kayti Edwards earlier suggested that there were tell-tale signs of the actor’s relapse prior to death. She shared that the actor being found in water and using the term ‘Mattman’ in his social media just days prior were signs of his possible relapse. With the release of his toxicology report, Edwards suggests that Perry must have relapsed on ketamine.
Edwards shared that he must have convinced himself that ketamine use was still considered sober. She wanted his doctors to be investigated, as he could not have gotten the ketamine from the streets. She believed that one of his doctors or nurses must have acted as a supplier. She toldThe Sun:
“In his brain it’s not the same as going on the street to buy crack or heroin. That probably was the stepping stone for him to go back to doing drugs. I think the doctors who had been working with Matthew should be investigated. I’m pretty sure he would have had an in with a doctor. It’s very hard to get ketamine on the street but it is very easy for a doctor or a nurse to get.”

Despite Edwards’ suspicions, other sources close to theServing Saraactor revealed that they had found the actor sober and happy in the days leading up to his death. Many were certain that Matthew Perry was on a path to regaining control over his life.
