Most shonen anime and manga series usually steer clear of full-fledged romantic plotlines, except for a few sprinkles near the end. Yuki Tabata’sBlack Cloverseems no different. There are many characters in the series who are smitten in love with characters like Asta and Yami, but their attraction is played off for gags.
And it’s not a huge issue, as Tabata never claimed romance to be a central theme. Despite the mangaka’s wishy-washy approach to romance in the series, fans are intrigued and eager to find out who the main characters will end up with, especially Asta.

From being looked down upon to becoming one of the strongest Magic Knights, Asta has come a long way. Unlike Yuno, who turned heads at every step of his path, Asta was initially judged for his weaknesses and his big goals. However, he continued to move forward regardless of the hardships he faced. Yami and the Black Bulls recognized his potential and treated him with the love and care he deserved.
But Noelle felt especially drawn to him. Every girl who spent time with Asta felt the same attraction towards him including Mimosa and Rebecca. With how popular Asta is among the girls, fans often question who the character will end up with.Yuki Tabatamade a comment on the romantic direction of the story without revealing anything, and it piqued fans’ interest.
Yuki Tabata Tried to Keep It a Secret, But Fans Think Its Evident
Asta’s first love in the manga was Sister Lily, but she has rejected Asta multiple times, rightfully and thankfully so. It would be quite problematic if she didn’t. AnX postshared a statement which was rumored to be from Tabata himself. The mangaka tried to keep things as vague as possible, but fans on Reddit started sharing the characters they see Asta with, at the end of the series.
From Sister Lily to Nero, all sorts of guesses came up during the discussion. However, the popular vote went to Noelle Silva. From all the characters who have been somewhat close to Asta, the most sensible match-ups for him are Noelle, Mimosa, and Rebecca. Mimosa’s feelings towards Asta feel like a fleeting crush, whereas Rebecca pretty much accepted that Noelle had an advantage over her.

Noelle has been very close to him, accompanying him in battles and in emotionally difficult situations. Although Asta hasn’t shown any romantic inclination towards anyone, it’s highly likely that Noelle and Asta will end up together. Even though her behavior towards him has been questionable at times, one great thing about this pairing is that Noelle doesn’t get reduced to her romantic interest in Asta.
She has a great character arc, where we see her overcoming others’ perceptions of her and blossoming into a strong Magic Knight. While Asta x Noelle seems all but confirmed to fans, Tabata might have a final surprise for us in store. Whatever it is, we’ll get to know soon, as the mangaka said it himself!
