Tom Cruise might be known for doing his stunts on his own, no matter how daring and dangerous they are, but it seems that the actor might have gone too far even for his own caliber, or that it is simply the case that age is catching up to him.

The actor, speaking with Empire Magazine, revealed how one of his stunts might have taken a toll on him like never before, and that he might even have passed out due to a lack of oxygen at the altitude at which he performed the stunt. Given that the actor is 62 (but still in great shape) might have also been a factor.

Tom Cruise was not getting enough oxygen

Tom Cruise, speaking withEmpire, revealed the nature of his stunt, which, according to the actor, had him sticking his head out of an airplane. Naturally going at the speeds one needs to maintain that altitude, Cruise did not get enough oxygen. As the actor himself, reported, this might have caused him to pass out more than once. He said:

When you stick your face out [of an airplane], going over 120 to 130 miles an hour, you’re not getting oxygen. So I had to train myself how to breathe. There were times I would pass out physically; I was unable to get back into the cockpit.

Cruise might’ve cemented himself as one of the actors who are famous for doing their own stunts, but it is often forgotten that the blaze of glory comes with…well, a blaze. It is commendable that Tom Cruise, arguably one of the last superstars in Hollywood, can and will do his stunts on his own, but the danger that these stunts pose can only be mitigated so much.

Fans are not surprised that Tom Cruise would do such a stunt

Fans online are not surprised that Tom Cruise would not only indulge in such a dangerous stunt but be so utterly nonchalant while reporting it. Nonetheless, it is commendable that an actor of his age can still come out from such a situation without any major bodily harm, and fans agree that he might be themost fearless actor out there.
