Sea of Thievesis among the first batch of Xbox first-party titles to leap to competitors like the Nintendo Switch and the PlayStation 5. The irony here is that the video game happens to run much smoother and better on rival consoles which can be a sign for more higher-profile ports.
Starfieldis one of the hottest projects in gaming after a very poor performance on native consoles like the Xbox Series X/S and a lackluster reception. Perhaps the ambitious space game from Bethesda could benefit from a more well-optimized port down the line.

Reviews and scores have a massive effect on the overall reception of a video game. Initially, the game had a much lower score on Microsoft’s flagship console, and after it was ported to the PlayStation 5, the score increased significantly.

It would appear that Microsoft is doing everything in its power to permanently abolish the idea of exclusivity andstarted an initiative by sharing first-party games with the hopes that other major video game companies will follow. However, this business strategy is causing more harm than good which prompted other members of the gaming community to flock over to rival consoles for a better gaming experience.

The major improvements found in other consoles that could not be achieved on what is boasted to be the most powerful console of its time is a major slap to the face for Microsoft. The embarrassment of having first-party games run smoother on others is quite awkward, and given the success of the first batch, it only makes sense for the company to do more ports.

The era of exclusives is seemingly coming to an end, and Microsoft doesn’t seem to care and has shifted its focus on something else entirely. Despite having the more powerful hardware, it is ironic to see first-party games run much better on other consoles. Optimizing a game to run on different hardware takes a toll but seeing the major differences between each version can easily identify the more competent gaming company.
The success of these ports is also an insult to the loyal gaming community of Xbox, many will begin to wonder if the company cares about the community and the game. Failing to achieve what others can with a much more robust budget speaks volumes of how the company handles game optimization.
Graphics, quality, and performance are all what players are after, and would naturally play their video games on a console that is much more suited to deliver a better experience. If recent leaks are true, it is only a matter of when and not ifStarfieldwill be playable on the superior console.
