ALZARA Radiant Echoes is an upcoming Mediterranean-inspired JRPG from Studio Camelia, a Montpellier-based studio founded by a group of industry veterans with a love for JRPGs.
“The team is comprised of people who have already worked in the industry. We gathered out of a love for JRPGs,” studio CEO and creative director Emma Delage says. “The ambition of the studio is to specialise in JRPGs because we think the world needs more JRPGs.”
ALZARA Radiant Echoes is set on a fantasy Mediterranean archipelago on the brink of being invaded by its famine-stricken neighbour. You play as a party of four characters, each wielding a different elemental magic, as you navigate the complex political situation and try to deal with the invasion.

ALZARA Radiant Echoes is a new Mediterranean-inspired JRPG in the vein of Golden Sun.
ALZARA Radiant Echoes is built thematically around the concept of sharing, “Sharing is central to the gameplay, the combat and the narrative,” Delage remarks. Even the dynamic battle system features a sharing mechanic, as two characters can pool their magic together to access new elements.
Studio Camelia is working with two renowned Japanese creators on ALZARA Radiant Echoes. The soundtrack is composed by Motoi Sakuraba who has previously worked on Dark Souls and Golden Sun. The character designs were crafted by Yoshiro Ambe, who has contributed designs to Fire Emblem: Heroes and Genshin Impact.
ALZARA Radiant Echoes features over ten locations, a mix of cities and dungeons. The player will be able to traverse the world on a 2D overworld map drawn by Mosqui, a Mediterranean watercolourist. The party will travel on foot, but also over the sea via Nakheel’s boat, the Latitude.
“All of the locations in the game are inspired by Mediterranean countries,” Delage explains. “It’s like a melting pot of civilisations - it’s why the Mediterranean was so appealing to us.”
