Howard reflected on how many women in the entertainment industry were forced to shed orgain weight for roles, but most importantly, just for aesthetics. She once told in aninterviewthatJurassic WorlddirectorColin Trevorrowonce defended her when the studio bosses aired their concern about her weight.
“It’s very strange that that’s been something that’s been specifically policed, where people hiring actresses say, ‘We want you, but 20 pounds less you.’ What it means is the person who would be what is called straight-sized, or medium, is being forced for a period of time to become fatigued, which is not sustainable.”

The 43-year-old actress discovered that it was best to inform people right away from the beginning that she is open to work so long as they accept her for herself, however she looks.
“What I found was best is to just be in communication with folks early in the hiring process. What I would say is that, ‘If you want to cast me, awesome. But if you think you want to cast me, but 20 pounds less me or 40 pounds less me, that’s actually another actor.’”
