Gibson appeared onThe Joe Rogan Experiencepodcast earlier this week where he spoke about a wide range of topics with the host. TheBraveheartstar revealed his issues with his COVID-19 medication and his health post his recovery. He also mentioned that he had lost 30 pounds after trying the diet popularized by UFC chief Dana White.

Gibson appeared onThe Joe Rogan Experienceearlier this week and the two spoke about varying topics but they focused a lot on health and alternative medicine. After criticizing the government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, Gibson revealed that he could not walk for three days after taking remdesivir, a primary medication that was given for treatment.

The actor also spoke abouthis weight-loss journey and revealed that he tried Gary Brecka’s popular diet and lost 30 pounds. The diet prescribes the 30:30:30 rule which recommends eating 30 grams of protein within 30 minutes of waking up followed by 30 minutes of low-intensity exercise (viaHealthline). Gibson said,

Did you do the Brecka thing…me too. I lost like 30 pounds…I was talking to Dana [White] and he said, ‘Oh you know’… I said yeah I got to do something about this. I’m 5’10, 235 [pounds] you know? That’s too fat. So, I had to sort of roll it back. Now I’m under 200 which is about… should be you know? That was the Brecka stuff.

When asked, Joe Rogan admitted to undergoing the diet too, and spoke about how Gary Brecka’s system was not as well-accepted, circling back to their conversation about alternative treatments.

Mel Gibson had previously lost 8 pounds in 8 weeks with a coach he met during dinner

As he mentioned onJoe Rogan’spodcast, Mel Gibson had lost 30 pounds doing a revolutionary new diet. However, the actor has not shied away from experimenting with alternative systems and coaches that are not common among his circles in LA. A few years ago, he had reduced his belly fast and lost 14 Kg (8 lbs) in 8 weeks.

This incredible weight loss was reportedly the result of being coached by an Australian health coach he met during a dinner in the country. Sam Jackson (not the actor) reportedly met Gibson at a restaurant and as they struck up a conversation, Gibson spoke about wanting to reduce his belly fat. Jackson said (viaMen’s Health),

We all got talking and he started saying how he has this belly he can’t get rid of and I said ‘Give me eight weeks with you, I’ll get rid of it.’ I told him I’d teach him how to eat properly and coach him through it.

Jackson said that though he initially thought it would just be an empty promise, Gibson came through and followed the plan prescribed by the coach.
