During the filming of John Hillcoat’s 2012 crime dramaLawless, it was reported that there was a tension between Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy.

The filmmaker spilled the beans on all the rumors during a Reddit AMA several years ago, saying that“there was definitely a fight between them. It escalated to the point where they had to both be restrained.”But he didn’t tell the reason behind the altercation.
After this, Hardy faced a blunt comment from his co-star. It’s Shia LaBeouf who compared him to a Clown. TheTransformersstar allegedly criticized Hardy for spending money on luxurious cars.

Shia LaBeoufsat down in an interview with Details Magazine, where he spoke about not having an interest in materialistic things as he bashed Hardy for his love of fancy cars. He said (viaContact Music):
“At this point, I have enough money to live 25 lifetimes. You couldn’t spend the money I’ve accrued now. (But) I have no interest in the materialistic bulls**t money can buy.”

Referring to hisLawlessco-stars, Tom Hardy and Jason Clarke, LaBeouf added,“They’re talking about Ferraris and st, like it’s a cool car. If Clarke pulled up in a Ferrari right now, my idea wouldn’t be, ‘What a cool fking guy!’ It would be, ‘Look at this clown.’ I think the fact that I despise that stuff keeps me safe. I hang on to my dirt. I like my dirt.”
Although it’s just a playful comment that LaBeouf made because both the stars are very close to each other. Because of their playful remarks, it was rumored that they got into a serious fight that escalated quickly from a joke, but it wasn’t true at all.

Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy Never Had a Serious Beef
There was a rumor that Shia LaBeouf punchedTom Hardyand knocked him out. But later, LaBeouf cleared them by tellingHot Oneshost Sean Evans the truth about their knockout story.
“Yeah, it’s a bunch of bullshit,”LaBeouf said.“We used to wrestle all the time and [Tom Hardy’s] a big fucking person, especially then. He was getting ready [to play] Bane.”

Obviously, they fought on the set, but it had nothing to do with the hatred between them. They had playful interactions. Though Hardy stepped too far during a film shoot when he fell down from the staircase. LaBeouf said,“For the rest of the shoot, he told everybody I knocked him out.”
