I get to the premiere and there’s this wonderful, beautiful Latin woman in my costume. She had maybe 24 hours to create this costume. She started crying. She’s like, ‘I’m the biggest Star Wars fan, but I had never seen a woman like myself in Star Wars.’

I started crying. That’s had always been a dream of mine to be in Star Wars, to be in that universe and to represent and not in a gimmicky way. I am not a Latin woman in ‘Star Wars.’ I’m just a woman in Star Wars.

The actress had no idea that her role would create that huge of an impact with fans and by receiving such accolades, she realized that representation matters and it can make many people happy and contented. Arjona is set to return as Bix inAndorseason 2which is expected to premiere sometime next year.

Adria Arjonais currently starring in the romantic action comedyHit Man,opposite Glen Powell. The film directed by Richard Linklater, sees Powell playing a fake hitman who starts to fall for the woman he is supposed to help played by Arjona. In an interview withEmpire, Arjona revealed that meeting and speaking with Powell on their first meeting for the film felt so spontaneous and easy that they ended up talking for five hours. She trusted Powell and they created a sweet space where they could play and try out different things with their characters. Arjona said,

It was supposed to be a one-hour meeting. We ended up talking for five hours. Chemistry comes from trust, and I think from our first meeting I just knew I could trust [Glen]. We created a space for us to play and be weird and sexy and funny.
