Insomniac Games has struck gold with their incredible work in crafting an original story for the masked web-slinger and continues to do so in their latest entry:Marvel’s Spider-Man 2,while Yuri Lowenthal grapples with how they ended the game and the future ofPeter Parker.
The first game was a work of art, seeing how creatively the writers and directors integrated certain story elements and characters from theSpider-Manlore and made it work for this format, spawning DLCs and even a spinoff game withMiles Moralesas the lead.

Coming back for a third time, Yuri has a level of protection for the character. The ending ofMarvel’s Spider-Man 2was left on a more optimistic note, after being New York’s one and onlySpider-Manfor the last 8 years until the rise ofMiles Morales,Peterhas done and endured too much, especially during this entry for the city and has finally taken abreakto enjoy his life with his loved ones whileMilestakes over as the mainSpider-Man.
This is followed by an after-credits that features iconic villains likeNorman Osbornwho is yet to be seen as theGreen Goblin, visiting an imprisonedOtto Octaviusin the Raft plotting a comeback which he refers to as “The Final Chapter”.

Insomniac may have one more final entry for the mainline series by capping it off as a trilogy. The voice actor was also doubtful about how long Peter would remain on the sidelines, the hero’s love for the city knows no bounds.

Upcoming projects likeMarvel’s Wolverinewill shift the focus of the creative team with an unannounced release date but a lot of fans are hoping for a 2025 release could mean it may take a while for Insomniac to wrap up Peter’s real ending assuming he would permanently retire and formally pass the torch to his young prodigy.
While the ending may imply thatMiles Moraleshas taken the primary role of New York’s defender, it will also allow for more spinoff sequels revolving around the more inexperienced hero making his forging his path and redefining what it means to put on the mask. Peter trusts Miles enough to leave him in charge for the holidays, and after the recent events, both have grown remarkably.
The future of Insomniac’sSpider-Manseries is full of possibilities, perhaps adapting key comic book moments like from The Ultimate Spider-Man could creep its way into the writing room.
