British rock and pop singer-songwriter Rod Stewart is known for his distinctive raspy singing voice and is regarded as one of the best-selling music artists of all time. The artist with almost 120 million records sold worldwide was knighted in 2016 Birthday Honours for services to music and charity.
Rod Stewart with a diverse range of music under his title was named as the 17th most successful artist on the Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Artist in 2008. He was inducted into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006. Stewart in his recent interview revealed the name of the singer who he thinks will stand the test of time.

Rod Stewart is not a fan of Ed Sheeran’s music
In a recent interview withThe Times, Rod Stewart was asked about who according to him in the current generation of musicians will be able to stand the test of time. The artist said,
“I like whatshisname. Oh f**king great, Rod. Well done. He’s British, really talented and his songs will be around.”
When the reported asked Rod Stewart if he was talking aboutEd Sheeran, he immediately replied saying,
“No, not Ed, I don’t know any of his songs, old ginger bollocks. Jesus.”
The name Rod Stewart was looking for was George Ezra adding that he thinks that he writes tremendous songs and he will be around for quite a while.
Despite the veteran artist not being a fan of Ed Sheeran, the artist is regarded as one of the best musicians of the current generation selling more than 150 million records worldwide. Two of Sheeran’s albums are on the list of best-selling albums in UK chart history and his ÷ Tour became the highest-grossing tour of all time in 2019.

Rod Stewart talks about the difference between his and the current generation of musicians
Rod Stewart appeared for the interview to promote his forthcoming collaboration with Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra for the album Swing Fever. During the conversation, he goes on to share about what according to him is the difference between his generation and the current generation of musicians. He said,
“We were brave in those days to go into the music business. We didn’t know where it would take us but record companies were different. They would give you a try. Also the people I came up with- The Rolling Stones, Elton John, we call came into it because we loved the music. Money and fame didn’t factor- it was burning ambition to sing.”
Talking about the current musicians, the legendary artist said,
“Now it’s more, ‘Ooh, let’s have a go at music. I don’t even have to play well. Maybe I’ll get rich’. Fame comes before everything. All kids want is fame.”

The conversation soon shifted to politics and the artist was asked if he thought it was time for a change in the country’s leadership to which he said,
“Keir Starmer and Labour deserve a crack at it. If there was anyone else we could vote for, then maybe, but they should be given a shot.”
Rod Stewart added that he liked former Prime Minister Boris Johnson adding that he was a good figurehead, but he turned out to be a lying public schoolboy. He noted that he got caught and things haven’t been the same since.
